Hilton Head - Closest Airport

Can anyone tell me how far away Hilton Head Airport and Savannah Airport are to the HHI Resort? Are there any other airports close by? I'm trying to find the least expensive way to get there and Savannah is about $100 less than Hilton Head Airport but I have no idea how far away either of them are.

Savannah Airport is approximately 45 minutes away. In August, we got $135 roundtrip from Albany to Jacksonville on southwest airlines - we then drove to HH - approximately two and one-half to three hours. We did this because it would have been $375 a ticket to fly into Savannah or even more to HH. It worked out fine for us.

The Hilton Head Airport is SMALL and as a result rental cars can be more expensive. Plus you will be on a commuter plane. It is not big enough for the big jets. Savannah is very easy to get to and from but the airfare into there is high.

I, DW, and my 2 DS's flew into the Savannah Airport last May (I think it was the Wednesday after Memorial Day) and had a great experience! The building is gorgeous on the inside (very "airy"). The rental car counters (we used Alamo) are very easy to get to. The drive to HH was very pleasant. Have fun!

I always use the Savannah airport, and flying Delta, I have found the rates to be really good out of Memphis. You didn't say where you are flying from; I guess rates can vary on how cheap they are, depending on where you originiate. I can even fly to Savannah on Delta without a Saturday night stayover, which is great when using just my Sun. - Thurs. points at HH. Like Beast Fan, I love the airport at Savannah because it is so small (just 8 gates) and airy.

Thanks, everyone! I will definitely go to Savannah - there is no way I'll do a communter plane. We are flying out of Providence or Boston, whichever has the best rate.
