Help choosing room from those more knowledgeable about such things, please.

Thank you all for your replies. It is a bucket list item for my daughters and wife to stay in a deluxe, so pleasing the family is a consideration. My son may not end up staying the whole week and flying back earlier, so that would relieve a space crunch for part of the trip too.

If it’s a bucket list related to the perceived “deluxe” factor, then IMO you should go with any DVC other than SSR or OKW. Both of those resorts, due to the sprawling layouts, don’t feel as deluxe as places like BCV, BWV, Poly, BLT, even the Animal Kingdom and Wilderness Lodge villas feel more deluxe than SSR and OKW.

Don’t get me wrong, there’s nothing wrong with those two resorts, we’re checking into SSR on Sunday, but the layout of the grounds makes me feel like it’s a DVC version of one of the moderates. Definitely nicer than a value, but not that much better than a moderate if your budget is tight and you’re trying to cram everyone into the cheapest room possible.

If your stay was after June, I’d say go Beach Club, but with the main pool closed there until the end of June I can’t recommend it considering it’s a bucket list item and likely your only deluxe stay. Go with Boardwalk or Poly, considering the ages of the group. Easy access to the parks and a very deluxe vibe. Or, any of the villas at AK or WL, both of those locations have amazing lobbies and a wow factor that is perfect for a bucket list trip.

I am going to be a differing voice here - I vote for a 1 bedroom at SSR.

We're a family of 7 and my sister always travels with us, so party of 8.

I LOVE SSR, and I think your adult kids will appreciate the proximity to Disney Springs.

I don't get the "it doesn't feel as deluxe" opinions, personally. We stayed at AKL - Kidani, Savannah view and it was gorgeous and I loved it. But we heard EVERY noise in the hallways. The outside entrance makes you feel more secluded and it is more peaceful to me. But, of course, that is just my opinion.

But for sleeping arrangements, my family essentially take the 1 bedroom half and my sister the studio. Some of the kids will migrate in with her or us throughout the week as our kids are younger, but we've found we have plenty of room.

We have stayed in one and two bedroom at OKW many times and thoroughly recommend the resort. Another cheap option (for deluxe) is Saratoga Springs resort as you can walk to Disney Springs.

If they own at Okw. I think they have a hard time trying to get into Bw or bcv and riv at 7 months for a studio. I would go with a one bedroom at okw or ssr. It might be a little more money but what you’ll save with a kitchen for breakfast alone will make up for it.

Is it in the budget to do an OKW 1 bedroom? I'd book that asap (think you said *next* summer, which is already within 11 month window. Then see what studios are available if you are still interested at 7 month window. Poly studio in longhouses has 2 bathrooms which could be helpful.

I have older kids (DD18 and DS24) and no way would we all share a studio. I can’t imagine it by adding another adult.

Our last trip all sharing one room (Poly and BC so bigger than the studios) was when they were 15 and 9 and it wasn’t horrible but I knew this was the last time.

Either try to rent two studios or get a two bedroom. At that age everyone needs to be able to sleep comfortably with leg room. You are walking 20k+ steps a day. Having your 20 year old son squeeze into a pull down under the tv is not going to be comfortable for him at all.

If you can’t rent the points for two rooms get two rooms at Pop.
