Haunted Houses, Scare Zones, a Candy Factory, Monsters, Goblins, Candy Apples and more. Is there a Quiet Place? My HHN 33 trip.

SATURDAY, SEPTEMBER 14TH CONTNUED

My sister and I took the opportunity to rest our feet for awhile after our shopping expedition. I may have napped just a little ::yes::.

It was a Saturday and we knew the evening was going to be busy for HHN so we took our time getting ready and went down to the Club Lounge for a little snack as we were still a little full from lunch at Portillo’s.

Then we went back to the room and made sure we had everything we needed then off we were to catch the Water Taxi. We arrived just in time for the Taxi and off we were to HHN.

We truned right when we entered and I wanted to do Slaughter Sinema 2 again and then I did the hike back to Eternal Bloodlines and Goblins Feast. It was a busy night and I was glad to have my EP for sure. I took some photos of the food booths offerings as we walked around on the way and after the houses.

We walked into Diagon Alley for a rest from the heat to our favorite spot to sit in Knockturn Alley. I went and purschased a Frozen Butterbeer for my sister and an Pumpkn Fizz for me. We enjoyed he respite from the heat and our beverages as the Death Eaters prowled the area. The actors playing the Death Eaters were fantastic.

It was time to move on and when we past Major Sweets the line was 120 minutes.

We saw a mob of young teens heading for the the Blumhouse Scarezone and the Grabber was on the corner of the stage were he belonged. The stage was only maybe over of 2 feet off the ground so the ScareActors were easily accessible if you had a mine to try and reach them.

The teens reached the stage and they were being unruly and surrounded the scareactor and were trying to grab him off the stage. . Thankfully out of nowhere a female security guard with a light showed up and was able to holler at the teens and push them back away from the Scareactor and took the actor off the stage to safety.

Sorry if the an analogy sounds crude, but they moved in so fast and surrounded the Scareactor like a bunch of wild dogs pawing at him he must have been both surprised and scared. It all happened so quickly and thankfully the female security guard jump in.

I was shocked to see this behavior as I had never in all the years of attending HHN every witnessed this type of behavior out of a group of young teens.

Last Year HHN was mobbed with people and I noticed more teens last year then ever. Is that an issue, no if everyone behaves themselves it’s not.

I thought since Stranger Things House was on last year that was some of the attraction for teens to attend in large amounts.

While I’am on last year there were a few incidents where ScareActors on stilts in the Scare Zones were knocked off the their stilts and injured. Because of that no more Scareactors on stilts in the open ScareZones were allowed this year.

I keep thinking what has happened to people to make them do such horrible things. I’am at a loss.

I know they sell alcohol and sometimes people drink far too much and there is trouble, but attacking ScareActors is on another level of terrible.

It ruins the event for everyone like myself who is a fan of HHN and the wonderful talent and artistry that is celebrated there by the Creators and ScareActors that bring the event to life.

This was only the beginning of my teen assessment for the night sadly enough.

My sister and I continued walking to what was really the best Scare Zone of the event Torture Farie.

The ScareActors in this Scare Zone played their parts wonderfully.

Then we decided to have a walk through the Tribute Store again.

We looked in the dessert case. The Chefs are very creative with their cookies and desserts for HHN.

I`m slowly catching up Robbie.....I`m very late to this one, but time has been so limited, however, I`ll catch up eventually. Enjoying it so far :)

Thank you Carole. I understand, it has been a busy time this year.

It seems like every time I want to sit down and do some more on my trip report life just gets in the way and it has to take a back seat to everything else.

So glad to have you along reading.

I’am enjoying your trip report.

SATURDAY, SEPTEMBER 14TH CONTINUED

After our walk through of the Tribute Store we wondered back out into the Torture Faire Scare Zone

We continued our walk to the Alley way by Auntie Ann’s Pretzels. We stopped and looked at the menu and wondered down to the San Francisco area again. ‘

None of the ScareActors were out on the Blumhouse Stage at the moment.

We looked in the big Candy Store which had a lot of the HHN goodies plus apples.

I like to take photos of all the colorful desserts…….LOL, but I’am not a big fan of buying any of them and eating them. I don’t care much for desserts although I do try things occasionally.

We did have a look in the San Francisco Pastry Company. I don’t recall ever purchasing anything in here.
IMG_2165.jpeg

IMG_2166.jpeg

We then headed for the bridge and over to the Simpsons. We then walked over to the Carey Drive-Inn food booth that was across from Animal Actors.
IMG_2169.jpeg

I had to laugh a bit when I seen the Summer Camp Dog. It had everything on it except potato salad….LOL…a total picnic on a hot dog. I just could not get past the baked beans on the hot dog. This is coming from a woman who used to eat chili dogs, which are spicy hot dogs with chili meat and chili beans on another level.

It was time for a snack and we decided on the Ropa Vieja Walking Tacos which were cut down dorito bags with the Doritos, Ropa Vieja meat, Lettuce, Sour Cream, and Monterey Jack Cheese.

The Ropa Vieja meat was really good. It was seasoned perfectly and had just a hint of a spicy kick to it.

There was just enough for a nice snack and it was not to filling for something to eat at night in the heat.

We also ordered the Rocks from Hell. Which were Jalapeno and Chedder cheese filled lumps of coal. My guess is it was some sort of choux pastry with lots of food coloring to make the black outer layer and was filled with the spicy melted cheese mix. It was not greasy.

IMG_2175.jpeg

These did not look at all appetizing, but I did try one and it was not for me. My sister liked them.

Now that I look back on it, it looks like the Werewolf had left his calling card on a tray….LOL….They might have sold more if they called them “Cheesy, Spicy Werewolf Poop” or not…..LOL
IMG_2176.jpeg

We did have a seat on the concrete wall and enjoy our snacks and a Coke Zero. It was hot out, but tolerable.

There were some photo ops it you were inclined to stop and take one.

They were selling the Pizza Fries over by the outside walk up near Sponge Bob Store.

When we were done we walked through the Swamp of the Undead Scare Zone and then stopped for my Obligatory picture of Mel’s Die IN.

SATURDAY, SEPTEMBER 14TH CONTINUED.

After I stopped for my picture of MEL’s DIE-IN we walked through the Demon Queens Scare Zone. The ScareActors in this Scare Zone really worked their various character roles. We sat down on one of benches and really enjoyed watching them. One of them came over and put on a show for us. We happily clapped for him and thanked him for his performance as did the security person that was standing next to us.

I wanted to go into the Insidious house again so after we were done resting on the bench and watching the ScareActors in the Demon Queens area we turned right and headed to opened area where they have concerts. This is where the line for The Quiet Place house was and I wanted to go through it again.

This area can really get backed up with people for sure. It was a Saturday night and it was busy. I was so glad again that I had EP. My sister decided to go hang out in the New York area and we agreed to meet up in the Gramercy Park area after I was done with the house.

Incidentally people who are allowed to smoke in that area. I just heart that Universal has changed their policy and there will be no smoking in that area anymore. We don’t smoke, but during HHN that is an easy area to find one another if we split up as you cannot hear your phone with all the noise.

I went and got in line. The TM’s were pulsing the regular line with the EP line. The regular line was really long and the EP line was longer then usual.

I finally got up close to were the building was. Once you reach that area the line snakes a little more. There is no air moving back in that area so it is even hotter.

I could see some teen boys about four people in front of me. There were six of them and they were horsing around and being loud and shoving each other.

The boys had bumped into others in the line with all the shoving and a guy told them to cut it out after they bumped into him and his wife.

Once you reached the Female TM she then released you to walk over to the door and then you waited by the door until the other TM ushered you through.

So one of the boys stepped out of line and told the TM he had throw up and his buddies were laughing at him and the one who said he was sick was laughing too.

He went to the trash can by the TM and acted like he was going to throw-up but didn’t and then the boy’s stepped out of line and then came in behind me.

They continued to laugh and shove each other and then the boy behind me shoved the boy who had said he was sick right behind me almost hitting me and told the boy who said he was sick to throw-up on my back instead of his if he was sick.

I had enough by then. I turned around and told the boy who said he was sick to walk back behind his buddy where he initially was standing and told him if he was sick to feel free to barf all over his friends back, but he would not be barfing on mine. I told them I was not playing around.

He walked back behind his friend and I told them they better not push me in that house.

The TM stood there and said nothing. The boys gave me a wide path in the house.

I don’t think that boy was sick he was just horsing around with his friends, but on the chance he was I was not going to be wearing the contents of his stomach.

I Know the old saying boys will be boys and teens do like to get together and have fun. I don’t have a problem with that. I was a teen too once. It is nice to see teens enjoying each others company, but not at the expense of those around you. Especially it you are screaming and shoving each other aggressively into other people, then telling someone to vomit on you is another level.

I was beginning to think this year was worse then last year with the teens gone wild.

Last year Universal had to institute a curfew policy for teens because of the fighting that was going on in the CityWalk entry area from the parking garage.

I’am baffled about this behavior.

It is sad and I’am sorry to see this go on. I have been going to HHN for a number of years and I know people who have been going for many many years and they are as shocked to see this.

The level of anger and disregard for others is really shocking and has been getting worse.

It is not only the teens, but adults too.

There have been ScareActors pushed off their stilts, people have attacked and punched ScareActors in the ScareZones and fights have broke out in lines for the Houses.

This just did not happenin the past.

I know that with the adults alcohol has played some part in the issues, but there seems to be an overall disregard for others at play here and it is sad.

Universal has increased security to protect the ScareActors and that was much needed.

There needs to be an overhaul on how Universal deals with the aggressive teen mob thing. That is a new issue.

There needs to be an absolute Zero Tolerance Policy for aggressive behavior to ScareActors and other rule abiding visitors.

You attack a ScareActor or other visitor you should be banned for life.

I think if people know that upfront it might help a little.

I love Halloween and I’am a big fan of HHN. It is the best Halloween event in the US, but it has changed.

Universal is my favorite place to vacation and I really enjoy attending HHN and the other Events they have during the year.

It is not cheap and to attend HHN. I’am happy to pay what I need to to enjoy myself at the event, but I will admit I don’t like spending that money if I’am witnessing such agression or being on the receiving end of the agression.

Universal Orlando if you read this…….do something about this problem. I want to continue to visit during HHN. I love Halloween and the wonderful houses you present.

This needed to be said.

After going through The Quiet Place House we headed back down the street I stopped by to run through the Monsters of Latin America House again. So I did that and other then the walk back to the house I basically walked right in. It was midnight and things were winding down even for a Saturday night.

After I was done with the house my sister and I headed for the boat. It was still pretty warm out and everyone that was heading for the exit were tired and dragging just like we were.

Luckily the boat was still at the dock and we were able to get a seat.

I was happy to see the Portofino when the boat rounded the curve after going under the bridge.

Once docked we headed to the room.

I was happy to shower and get my pajamas on and get to bed.

My sister said after she walked back in room after her shower I was fast asleep.

I know it is weird, but I like more savory things.
My daughter doesn't eat dessert either, no sweets at all.
But she loves, loves those icky gummy worms! I don't understand it at all. Who would want a gummy worm when there is delicious cake and ice cream, brownies, cookies, etc.......:)
So, you are not"weird" alone:)

Oh Robo, that was an awful thing to happen to you by those jerks! There's no reason to act like that, and I hope Universal puts a stop to it soon before those idiots ruin it for everyone. I agree that there needs to be a rule to ban for life if they get kicked out for bad, dangerous behavior. I cannot imagine anyone hitting or bothering the scare actors. What is going on in this world? I'm so sorry that you got picked on by that group of idiots. I have a temper too and would have done the same thing, and I probably would have gone to a TM in charge and turned them in, who knows?

Otherwise, I am enjoying your trip report. I hope that you let Universal know what happened to you and about the increasing dangerous behavior by these teen boys.
