Has anyone decorated their Magic Bands? Please show us the pictures!

These are so awesome! I want mine to turn out like this. What brand nail polish is this? Also what do you mean by breaking them down?

First time back to the thread so I don't know if anyone answered this yet.

I forget what kind of base coat I bought, but the white was Sally Hansen Great White. I used the Cinderella band during a rainy visit to the parks earlier in the month and had no issues with cracking. :thumbsup2 It worked just fine, too.

I just meant that I took the outer band off when I broke them down.

Have fun!

Thinking about doing a Lilly Pulitzer band but I'm afraid the nail polish will chip off... Does it?

I haven't had any chipping problems. I used base coat and everything adhered well, and several coats of base coat to top coat. I think the people who had chipping problems said that they had used hard coat type polish, so it wasn't flexible.

I can see some tiny cracks by the holes, but only the ones on the more flexible outer part. I shortened mine, but I left a a little of that part and painted it, even though it is never seen.

I'm no artist so I went the decal route

How did you do the yellow polka dot one? what did you use for the paint? have you work them to the parks yet, which one was the most durable? how did you make your mickey heads so neat/un-messy?

On almost all of them with the exception of the Minnie and the 2 purchased from DVC Central ( Buzz & Woody) I started with a clear nail polish base coat, after that dried I used nail polish on the ones with polka dots and temporary tattoos on the other yellow ones, then I finish up with a few coats of the clear base nail polish. To get the dots perfect round I used a connector cord from my DVD player and just dipped the prong into the nail polish.
To paint the Mickey heads I was just very careful with the nail polish. The black Mickey heads are done with a sharpie.
Some of the bands have been in the parks and a few are new......all held up very well!!

Here's my band!

It started as a gray band and now it's purple! I'm still considering taking off the gray portion. Since cutting it down, it fits even better but I can see that it would fit great with removing the outer band.

I'll be getting another band soon and will do something very subtle. Probably just painting or outlining the Mickey head.

I'm super jealous!! Since we are travelling from Canada, we were told that we would just be picking ours up when we check in at our resort. :( There are some pretty amazing bands here!!

Pick up some temporary tattoos and base coat nail polish and decorate them the first night in the hotel! If you have a Party City near you (or pass one in the states), you can get sheets of temporary tattoos for $0.99. They have Frozen, Disney princesses, Mickey, Toy story, Cars, etc

Those of you who have decorated your band and have used them to get into the park, when you cover the mickey head with nail polish or paint or whatever, did it still work? I posted a picture of the bands I decorated with stickers and the first response I got to them was "You can't have anything covering the mickey head. They'll make you buy a new band or remove the stickers." Yet most of the pictures I find have something over the mickey head and have yet to hear anyone say they couldn't get into the parks because of it.

Hi, I wanted to say thank you to everyone who has posted their tips for decorating bands, coming from the UK we don't get ours before check in and I've done some basic decoration on mine and my brothers bands, mine is Chip and Dale and his Star Wars, used tattoos base coat and his has a glow in the dark Mickey head http://s1284.photobucket.com/user/clareylooly/media/imagejpg1_zps539762fa.jpg.html

How did you get your mini Mickey to look like that? All freehand?

Here is the first band for our trip!
