Happy Hours No More?

I keep hearing conflicting reports that DCL is doing away with happy hours. I will say I have not seen a happy hour offered ever on the Wish class but for those who have sailed in the past two weeks on the classic ships (Magic, Wonder, Dream, Fantasy), did your sailing have happy hour options? And if so was it still listed in the app?

Could this mean drinks packages could be coming out soon
I would not assume soon like 2025 but moving in that direction. They would have to get guests unhappy enough with the costs of drinks to feel a drink package is worth it. I think DCL will regret it... people often drink to excess on packages to get their money's worth and they will need to up security for certain but hey what do I know? I'm sure some higher ups have already considered all of this.

There might be a max limit on how many a day in there packages

wish has not done happy hours...

all the other ships did when we sailed....

big mistake to get rid of them.... the venues were always sleepy when we stopped by.... imagine they'll get even fewer customers without happy hour... there's a reason the bars are smaller on the wish....

I did not notice any happy hours advertised in the navigator when we were on the Treasure last week. The only discount we saw was the Sommelier bin at $13 a glass at the Rose bar. It’s for any wines/champagnes that they need to use up that are open before they go bad. I said I don’t like wine at all and if they had something with bubbles in the bin I would like a glass. I ended up with some very nice bubblies over the course of the cruise after befriending the bartender at a very steep discount.

I can see Disney being a lot less than that
The issue is to make a drink package attractive enough to buy it has to feel like a good value. Drinks on DCL range from $7-15 typically for most cocktails (not counting glow cube and special mugs). So with a limit of 10 or way under at what price point is a drink package look like a good value?

They would probably need to make it cheaper than other lines if the limit is a lot less than others

Which means people are more likely overall to hit the max drinks making it not as profitable for DCL to have one. A big part of drink package profits means that yes- some will hit that 15 drink limit to get their value but that most come no where close to it making it a win for the cruise lines as people are essentially paying for drinks they aren't getting.

If the limit is lower (say 5 drinks a day), and the price low enough to encourage guests to buy it, most guests will hit the limit and at that point it might have been better for DCL just to charge per drink...

Haha yeah that’s a good point

I guess some people would still like one for budgeting reasons so it’s a more all inclusive feel

But yeah, I’m not sure what they will do

Do you think they will definitely come out with one

Just as a reminder... Drink packages on other lines ALSO include bottled water, specialty coffees, smoothies, etc. It's not ALL alcoholic beverages.

I think they are at least highly considering it... they might be smart to hold back for a bit. They have two new ships about to launch and the travel industry might be hit rather hard by everything going on (for details see controversial board). I think they need to focus what is already on their plate but sadly DCL does not listen to me. :teacher:

If they did they would have a once a year adult only cruise, out of Florida, in September, for a week, and charge a premium for it but sadly Joe will not take my calls :sad2::sad:
