Hallmark Movies ❤️ comfort & joy

Thanks Imzadi. I have previously enjoyed A Cozy Christmas Quilt. I love that Liam put in so much love to make the quilt for his sister. I don't even sew a button but a hand made with love and happy memories Christmas quilt sure sounds very special indeed.

Interesting. I didn't know GAF is still showing previously released movies as their movie premieres. I thought this holiday season they finally filmed enough if their own movies.

This is the same situation for UPtv. They are also "premiering" movies which have already been shown elsewhere.

Googling. . . A Cozy Christmas Quilt was released in Australia & online last year under the name of "The Fabric of Christmas."

Funny, I almost watched it last week on YouTube under it's old name. It's on several free streaming services too with the old name: Tubi, Xumo, Roku, Plex.

Here is the YouTube link:

Thanks for bringing that up, Imzadi. I have noticed at times You Tube movie titles are either one of two titles for the same movie or that the description title is wrong altogether. I think Bringing Christmas Home the movie about an antique store brother and sister who team with two military colleagues to return an old uniform was another example. What matters of course is the story. I do keep a list on my flash drive of watched movies so lol a correct title can indeed be handy. I hope all of you in this kind thread have enjoyed a good Sunday movie.

I’m glad you ladies enjoyed the Quilt movie. I just couldn’t go there. 🤷🏽‍♀️
My grandma made prize-winning quilts (I have a couple, every grandchild received one when we married), and I can’t imagine anything more boring than making a quilt 🤣🤣

It’s good they have many movies premises so we can all find something we want to watch. It’s funny how even in this small group we have our preferences and non-starters. I remember when there were maybe 2-3 rom-com Christmas movies each season. We have come a long way and it is wonderful to be spoiled for choice! 🥰

On the Lifetime Channel this weekend:

On Saturday:
🎄Christmas at Plumhill Manor
is on Lifetime TV at 8pm ET/PT, 7CT and repeating 4 hours later at 12:01am ET.
Starring: Maria Menounos, Kyle Pryor.
Description: Margot, a beautiful rising architect in New York, discovers a magical Christmas secret in an English countryside manor she unexpectedly inherits. Experiencing Christmas across the pond may make Margot a fish out of water, but an unforeseen romance (Kyle Pryor) and sense of belonging give her a breathtaking new blueprint for love.

I just finished watching Christmas at Plumhill Manor. I really, really liked it. It was made as sort of a mystery. It was well written and acted. And the scenery was beautiful. The story kept me engaged wondering what would happen next.

It was a great start to the Lifetime Christmas movies. They are only doing 12 Christmas movies this year. If this movie is any indication, the budgets may be bigger for each movie, (because they made less than half of what Hallmark is putting out this year,) and they paid for better writers and locations.

Although, it could alternately be because Maria Menounos, the female lead, also executive produced her own movie. And like when Lacey Chabert or Alison Sweeney executive produce and star in their own movies, more care is taken over all.

But, in comparing this movie to Hallmark's Tis the Season to Be Irish, the second movie is half what the Plumhill movie is. The script is awkward and bad at times, especially for the male lead. And we didn't see much of Ireland.

Hug, Woorfiedoodles, how cool that your grandma quilted.

I will check out Christmas at Plumhill Manor, Imzadi, thanks. I will pass on the other movie. I rewatched The Gift of Peace last night which is an atypical Hallmark movie. Beautiful story of friendship, healing, and by my faith belief, God' s forever love.

Here is a link to watch Christmas at Plumhill Manor even if you do not get Lifetime. It's on Lifetime's own website for free with ads. (Click on the Multiple ads box as the left side is a bit weird to negotiate through.)

If you see a pop-up box asking if you have a LMN subscription, just click the black "Dismiss" button and it should bring you to the regular Lifetime page. You may have to refresh the page a few times to get a movie to play. And turn off your Adblock app if it's on so the page will load correctly to play.

Here is the page to Lifetime's other Christmas movies that are free with ads. They've culled some of their better Christmas movies for the page. (The rest of the year this site is loaded with their cheerleader's murdering mom & neighbor-turned-serial-killer movies.)

I have now watched all 5 of the Time to Come Home movies. I have a question about the last movie. Was the pastor's wife Susan somehow related to the main actress Carly? I fast forwarded too much during commercials and when I went back a bit didn't find it. I decided to finish out the movie instead. Thanks, friends :)

I watched the new movie A Reason for the Season.
I just finished this one and thoroughly enjoyed it. I loved seeing the characters in the past and present, and thought the leads had nice chemistry.

I also loved that it wasn't one of those movies where the main characters get mad at each other!

I wouldn't mind a sequel that follows Evie as she searches for other good deeds to reward.

On Great American Family this weekend:

🎄
A Christmas Less Traveled is on GAF at 8pm ET, 7CT.
Starring: Candace Cameron Bure and Eric Johnson.
Description: “The Dine and Dash” diner has a stack of mounting unpaid bills, forcing its owner, Desi (Bure) to sell her beloved, mint condition, cherry red 1964 Ford F-100, a gift from her deceased father. As Desi visits the vintage truck one last time, she discovers a recorded message from her dad on an old audio cassette. Desi’s Dad’s voice sends her and “Old Red” out to retrace her family’s most memorable moments one last time. Just as the journey begins, Desi meets Greyson (Johnson) who offers her a generous payment in exchange for a ride to “close the most important deal” of his life. Little do Desi and Greyson realize the less traveled road will reveal more about each of them than they could have ever known.

I watched A Christmas Less Traveled. It was kind of Meh! to me. I think many of us have mixed feelings about Candace Cameron Bure. Some like her, some do not. I like some of her movies. Some I do not.

In this movie, she played a rather unlikable character who needed to drive the male lead on their road trip as he offers her a lot of money to be able to ride with her. Then she acts down right rude to him most of the trip, trying to make him act like he isn't there, because she didn't want him along in the first place. :sad2: 😡 She accepted the money, she could at least be cordial. Meanwhile the male lead is acting weird for his own private reasons, which left the actor, Eric Johnson, no where to go with his acting. :headache: 🤷‍♀️

There is a greater, higher story within it all. But, for me, it's hard to get past when the main characters are so unlikable and weird. This story was supposed to be a mash up of a previous movie Candace did, Christmas Town, and one of the Signed, Sealed, Delivered TV episodes and A Bramble House Christmas. All of those I love, this movie is a miss for me.

I watched this one too and liked it. :thumbsup2 One does have to get past the beginning part when Taylor Cole shows up. She tends to naturally have a bit frosty and remote of a personality, in my opinion. Which is why she gets cast as some characters. Maybe she didn't realize it, as she overacted her part in the beginning when she didn't have to. She could have just been herself. 🤷‍♀️ :lmao:

Yet, hang in there as she defrosts and the movie gets better. Especially as we meet all the other, small but very essential characters which make up the storyline. This story is a quest, and once I got past Taylor at the beginning, it kept me engaged.

What I really liked is that this isn't a story of how money is a bad thing, or is the root of all evil. In the right hands, money can be a tool to do really wonderful things. Yet, the heart has to be in the right place for it to do the work as intended.

I'm so with you. Glad I just saw this comment as I was having to choose between this one and Santa Tell Me (both of which I've missed).

If this movie is any indication, the budgets may be bigger for each movie, (because they made less than half of what Hallmark is putting out this year,) and they paid for better writers and locations.

🎄 Holiday in Happy Hollow is on the Lifetime TV at 8pm ET/PT, 7CT and repeating 4 hours later at 12:01am ET.
Starring: Tamara Almeida, Cody Ray Thompson.
Description: Real estate developer Gracie’s ambitious new project faces an unexpected roadblock when she stumbles upon a quirky detail from the past: the charming Christmas tree farm she has purchased once raffled off tiny one-foot deeds to local families, each holding a sentimental piece of the land. To salvage her vision, she must team up with local historian Jack, embarking on a heartfelt quest to track down these families and persuade them to part with their cherished slices of the farm.

Apparently I spoke too soon. Just as Great American Family and UPtv are "premiering" some movies they've acquired from movies released elsewhere, usually having already aired overseas, Lifetime did the same for their second, Sunday movie. This may be a recurring theme for all three networks this season - where they may do one good movie, followed by one possibly not too good movie each weekend.

Holiday in Happy Hollow aired in the UK last year. And I didn't think it was good. It was highly overacted with the "cutesy" style of acting and script dialogue some people think is required for Christmas movies or romcoms. I tried to fast forward it twice to see if the movie improved. It didn't. I finally turned it off after 12 minutes. :crazy2:

I agree Imzadi about the beginning being too much and perhaps for too long. I felt somewhat similarly in the last Time to Come Home. Both actresses did great needed to relax a bit more to start.

I watched this on YouTube. I really liked it. It was better quality that I thought a movie bought from elsewhere would be. :thumbsup2 I also loved that the male lead understood how much his sister would love that the tradition of getting something handmade was being carried on.

Being an artist & crafter myself, I also loved all the discussion the quilt designer explained about designing artwork and the doubts that creep in when designing original work. Especially when talking to someone whose opinion matters who ends up scathing one's work. Many people often abandon what could have been masterpieces after horrible comments.

It reminded me of a quote author/artist Julia Cameron wrote in her book & process, The Artist's Way. "Just as an alcoholic can't afford the first drink, an artist can't afford the first doubt." And in the end, most times, the best healing actually comes from continuing to make more art in spite of the doubts, the scathing comments, the heartbreak.

It was nice to see a movie which understood that process.

That's okay. There are definitely some subjects or actors I just can't watch. :p It's great that we have more to choose from nowadays. :goodvibes

Second try at watching Our Holiday Story. There was just too much jumping back & forth and frantic-ness I couldn't get through it.

Also, couldn't make it through Scouting for Christmas. Obvious storyline (even by Hallmark standards), barely adequate actors.

A Novel Noel is set to record later. I enjoyed rewatching We Need a Little Christmas. I did think the mom was a bit much at times but truly God Bless her wanting the best for her youmg son. The young actor Azreal Dalman was great. To me, Irene, the next door neighbor made this movie special. She was wonderful and someone I would love to be friends with. I cheered when her military grandson Doctor Miles surprised her for Christmas Eve dinner.
