I have a 2012 resale contract. I understand it is grandfathered. Can someone please refresh me of what "grandfarthered" provides me? It is just that I can continue to reserve the 14 original resorts, or is it more? Thanks!

That old means you have access to all resorts, current and any future. Also means you qualify for membership extras. I forget when the cutoff for being able to exchange for a cruise, but thats an awful use of points anyways.

it was 2011. I bought resale in 2012 too, so my points are exactly like direct points, with the added perk that I cannot be tempted to use them for low value exchanges
Here's another question! Assuming I have no direct contract, with my grandfathered dvc 2012 resale, will I be able to renew my sorcerer's pass and get that discount?

Thanks everyone. I so want to sell my Vero direct, keep my old 2012 resales, and buy more resale where I want to really stay. Vero annual dues are just crazy. We are now retired and live on a beach so Vero is no longer a novelity. Thanks again!!

The requirement to own a minimum number of direct points to be eligible for Membership Extras didn’t go into effect until after 2012 - can’t remember when, maybe 2018. At first, any number of direct points qualified. So in 2016 and maybe 2017, people often bought resale, then 25 points direct, and those 25 points entitled them to Membership Extras and still would if they still own them. All of OP’s resale contracts, since they were purchased prior to 2016, are individually grandfathered.
