Grand Floridian shouldn’t allow non hotel guests

You didn’t pay for exclusive use of transportation or public areas. You paid for a room & certain recreation areas during your stay. People have a right to go to GF or any WDW hotel because WDW management advertises & invites them to.

This is true for any resort. Only registered guests of that resort are allowed to use the pools at that resort. And the nightly rate of any resort entitle you to use all WDW transportation.

I don’t think that’s the reason they have them at other resorts. We’ve been going tomWDW since 1992 & they’ve had gingerbread displays at other deluxes as long as I can remember. They have added the gingerbread & treat sales at other resorts recently. I think it’s more likely they did that because they’re making a good amount of money from the sales at GF, so why not make money at the other resorts too.

Wow, no one has a right to go anywhere on private property unless the property owner allows it. Disney could wake up Tuesday and 100% block access to gf if they wanted

Going to gf isn’t some predestined inherent birthright bestowed upon us by the mouse. I 100% am however advocating for the mouse to shutdown access to adr and resort guests only

If not on a permanent basis certainly during peak periods

To say they can’t do this I just have to point you to poly during 4th of July. They 100% block access to the beach on occasion

My response was reflective of the current situation at GF. If management changes that on Tuesday, my response won’t apply. But today, Monday, it does. After over 30 years vacationing at WDW, I’m well aware that things can change at any time.

Being a random owner doesn’t give someone a predestined right to ban others from transportation or any other place that is allowed by WDW management.

If you don’t like the situation, make your feelings known at your annual meeting.

I think this thread has shown there is clearly a very big problem

Seems to me that the issue is really more about the impact on transportation to get to the parks and back on the guests that are there.

Maybe they need to consider larger boats and run dedicated buses to MK and Epcot during the holidays because of the monorail crowds.

I hate Disney buses. Most unreliable transit on the planet. Another reason why I love monorail resorts is a train is much more consistent than a bus

Unless we still boot non paying guests to the bus this doesn’t solve the problem for me. Feels like guests are being punished

I could see this becoming a nightmare

Punter walks to monorail, line is out the door. Punter walks to bus wasting time, line is out the station. Now what do they do other than walking back and forth or hanging tight

If bus and monorail were right next to each yeah sure this could work but you can’t see one from the other so very much feels like a punishment

I guess I don’t see it that way. But as mentioned, until Disney chooses to move the Gingerbread house someone else, the holidays at GF will be hustle and bustle…and it may not be the ideal choice for some guests.

This was my thought. Again, even better if resort guests/ADRs can take monorail or boat, and resort visitors can take the bus. I say this because generally, monorail resorts are priced higher on the basis that they have more exciting and convenient transportion options to Magic Kingdom.

But even if they couldn't be bother to do a system like that (time and $$ Disney doesn't want to spend) adding buses is a pretty easy solution to prevent overcrowding. Especially since it seems to be pretty formulaic: people leaving MK early on party days like to finish their evening off with a visit to the nearby resorts to see the decorations. Just add buses on party days from 5 - 9 p.m.!

The goal isn't to be elitist or mean--its so everyone can have a slightly better experience.

I feel the same staying at the Polynesian anytime. I love it and bought there because I love it so much. But recently we have found ourselves booking elsewhere because of the chaos. The lobby is always insane and we can’t even watch fireworks from the beach because of all the people. I’m not paying all those points to stay there for chaos. That is why we bought DVC to stay deluxe and avoid the chaos of the values. So I get that it’s unavoidable so decided AKL is more my speed. Just wish I would have figured it out before we bought there
We stayed at the Poly this past spring and felt the same. Most of our prior trips were at WL which is quite calm in comparison.
