hi

going to disneyland next week and would like to get one of the famous gingerbread cookies - i thought i read online that the receipe has changed with chocolate on the bottom of the cookies in disneyland and the originals only at grand californian - is this true? and easiest place to get them?

thanks for all the help

When the cookies were first sold this year, Jolly Holiday had gingerbread Mickey cookies with yellow star buttons. Those are the ones that have chocolate on the back and are different than the fan favorites. The gingerbread Mickey cookies with green dot buttons are the originals. Since news spread on social media, Jolly Holiday has stopped selling the cookies with yellow stars and went back to selling the original cookies with green buttons.

If you are a gingerbread cookie fan, the cookies at Harbour Galley are really good.

We did not get any gingerbread cookies at the Grand Californian this year, but last year we did. While they looked identical to the ones at Jolly Holiday, they tasted different. We spoke with a member of the Grand's bakery team who said while they look the same, they use a different recipe. They are also more expensive.

You can mobile order the cookies from Jolly Holiday, but first thing in the morning the mobile ordering goes very quickly and the cookies disappear from the mobile order menu. During the day they periodically re-appear on the mobile order menu and are again available. The cookies are also available at Starbucks in DL and DHS, but no mobile ordering. We bought at both Jolly Holiday and Starbucks and they were the same cookies.

The gingerbread cookies at Harbour Galley across from the Haunted Mansion are also very good, but they are a completely different recipe and are round cookies rather than Mickey shaped.

There are also just Mickey Head shaped gingerbread cookies at several additional locations in the park.

I don’t attempt the famous Mickey gingerbread this year. But I did get the Mickey head gingerbread multiple times on our trip from the candy stores. Mobile order earlier in the day. Later in the day they were hard to find. My son wanted the Mickey snowman sugar cookie and we couldn’t find it.

We also got the warm gingerbread cookies at harbour galley. They are really good. One day we got the 13 pack and didn’t eat them all. They were still really good the next day (I left them in the little carrying box they give you)

Availability at Jolly Holiday throughout the day can vary - it’s 3:30pm now and I could still place a mobile order though first pickup time is not until 7pm or later.

Another good thing to know is that the Californian doesn't start selling them until noon, in case you try to pick some up on departure day for the ride home.
