Galaxy Bowling

Me and my family will be at Universal's Hard Rock Hotel this july. I would like to surprise them with bowling (they never tried) at the Cabana Bay Galaxy Bowling and have dinner there.

- Is there a way to reserve a lane?
- How?
- What time in the afternoon/evening should we get there to get a lane (in the case they don't reserve) with 30/45 minutes waiting?
- What is the best way to get there from Citywalk?
- Any other tips?

Yes you can reserve lanes. I had always done it in person when staying at CB, but I'm sure you can call them to make a reservation.

Best way to get there from Citywalk would be to take the Cabana Bay shuttle bus. They depart about every 10 minutes from the transportation hub which is located just to the right at the end of the first set of people movers when leaving Citywalk. After you exit past where the security checkpoints are, make a right and head down the escalators. Bus ride is only about 5 minutes.

Other tip I would suggest is that if you are planning on doing this mid-week, they have reduced pricing in the afternoons from around 2:00 pm until I believe 5 or 6 o'clock (can't remember the exact timeframes). it's much cheaper during this time (I believe it's $8 or $9 per person, per hour). What we did was make our reservation from 4:30 to 5:30 I believe and then ate after that.

I think we made our rezzie for Galaxy Bowl on opentable.com. During our midday break, we were the only ones in there. And yes, as Tommy said, there is a discount special during the day. Obviously everyone else is out doing something else during that time. I wonder what that could be?

I tought that table reservation was only for the restaurant. Is it for the lanes too?

As far as I can recall, yes, the rezzie is for bowling. You get a table at the end of the lane. You can order food while bowling. Though I wouldn't call it a restaurant. I wonder if I was missing something? We just had snacks, not a meal. You can go down stairs to the Bayliner for a full meal.

I reserved a lane last august.

to do that in advance (I did that a couple of months before), go to the hotel page on Loews.

in the popup form, select "concierge", fill your info, and enter your lane reservation request in the message field.
The hotel will contact you (email) to confirm lane reservation

include number of bowlers, as the time or number of lanes will depend on it

I did this as a hotel guest (include reservation number) and I don't know how it would work for non residents, but it's worth a try.
