Has anyone been to Fire & Ice restaurant at the Gardenwalk? We were thinking of giving it a try. I was wondering what it is like. Would we need to make reservations? How far ahead should we make reservations? Any info at all would be appreciated...

I haven't dined there, though I recently saw they had a deal on restaurants.com

We ate there in April and were not impressed. The choices were mediocre compared to real Mongolian-style BBQ where we are from, it can be loud even when it wasn't busy, service was ok, food from the actual kitchen (appetizers) wasn't anything to write home about. I asked for my vegetarian daughter's meal to be seperated from the meat eaters meals on the cook surface (something they have no problem with at real Mongolian BBQ and I've seen yelp reviews where people did this with no problems - bad cook maybe?), but she ended up getting a piece of beef in her food anyway.

All in all it wasn't awful, but definately not planning on going again. And we were so looking forward to it and had high hopes in the beginning.

I've been once. Compared to the Fire + Ice in Harvard Square (Cambridge, MA), it had far fewer choices, which I was surprised by. It was completely dead when I was there, so no need for reservations, but the food they did have was good and I found the cooks/staff to be friendly. There are probably better places to go on Harbor Blvd though.

...Or Downtown Disney, or the Disney Hotels and maybe even within GardenWalk. There's a 24 hour Subway on the corner of Harbor and Katella. ;-)

Okay, I have to say that we like it, we go occasionally. If your are signed up with iDine or uPromise, they are one of the restaurants on it (and yes it works with the Restaurant.com certificate, you get a rebate on whatever you actually charge to your card in the restaurant).

As for the selection, it is better than most Mongolian places here (of course I don't know of many that aren't in the malls).

You do not need a reservation and I recommend lunch vs. dinner because it is cheaper.

We went last year because it was one of the only options with my restaurants.com voucher. The service was fair although a bit slow. My daughter and I were not impressed with the food but my husband and son were satisfied with their selections. Even with the vouchers it ended up being, what I thought, was too expensive. Seeing as how my family left with such mixed reviews, I don't have any plans to go back again this year.

There are plenty of other choices in the Garden Walk that I am personally looking forward to giving a try this time around and that you might like to consider. We will be checking out PF Changs and the Cheesecake Factory. No voucher's this time around but I have signed up with all their websites so I am hoping I have coupons that I will be able to make use of at the time. Maybe next time we will make it to McCormick & Schmick's.

Our very favorite Gardenwalk dining is at Bubba Gump. Fun place, great service and the food has always been yummy. And, our other personal favorite in the area just down Harbor Blvd is Mimi's. Great food with a huge menu.
