We are going to do Sea World this vacation. What fish can be fed? I know the dolphins are one. Are there regular feeding times- does anyone know what these are? Any suggestions on best strategy.

Thanks

Well, they aren't fish. But you can also feed the seals and sea lions. Diana

The Sea Lions make puppy dog looking faces, pose, and bark to get the fish. You toss it over a wall and they catch it. You can almost touch them in some places of the enclosure, but a keeper will stop you if you put your hand over the wall.

For the sting rays, you can touch them as they swim by. If you wanna feed them, you make a fist, hold the fish, they swim over and suck it out. Don't worry, they won't bite you, but it is scary the first time you do it. Feed them early in the morning, because once they're full, they stop eating. If you go there in the afternoon, they don't come for the fish.

The Dolphins are by far the most popular to feed. Feeding times vary during the day, but from my experiences, the best times to go are in the afternoon at 2pm, 3pm, and then another feeding at 5pm. A booth sells the fish, and when they run out, that's it for the session, so get in line quickly, and buy at least 4 cups, $4 each. Buy more if you have the money, the fish go fast. Squeeze in to the front of the wall and stand your ground. The crowd will be 3 rows deep, so you'll have to work your way to the front. Let someone get a spot on the wall, while another goes for the food.

Let the dolphin see the fish, they'll come up, smile, and you pet them under their nostrum. Then toss the fish into their mouth. If you don't toss the fish, they'll splash you. On some dolphins, if you hold out your hand like an officer telling cars to stop, the dolphin will come up out of the water and touch it.

A trainer comes out at 3pm to feed certain dolphins extra fish. If you're there and see him, stand close and you can get some extra touches.

When you run out of fish, the dolphins won't come to you anymore, they know who has the food.

In between feedings, you can go underground and see the dolphins thru a glass wall. Really cool to do because the room is air conditioned, and you can sit down. There is also a snack stand that sells beer as you enter the Key West area. They play Jimmy Buffett music, so it feels like you're in Key West. Good to go there in the afternoon to slam a few beers and rest.
