I am bringing my parents and brother's family to Disney with us. We have done this before but stayed in a GV together. This time I am putting them in a second 2BR.

* How do I make sure they can get into the room upon arrival without me there? We are set to arrive much later than them and you never know with air travel?

* Can I give them managing control over the room so they can do the check-in and put their own credit card down and such? If it has to be my card, I trust them and we will settle up later, but I think all involved would prefer if they can behave as if it's their own hotel reservation.

* Is there any reason not to leave myself listed as a guest on the second room? There is room for the additional guest, but I won't actually be sleeping there. I feel like it might make managing things easier if there is an issue. I feel like it might be helpful to be able to open their room (babysitting my niece, helping a tech challenged elder get in). But will it cause any problems if I am on two room reservations simultaneously.

I know DVC renters must deal with this all the time, so it's probably not as hard as I'm making it, but it's my first time putting family in their own room. THANKS!!!

Disney doesn't care whose points the reservation is under, it is the whoever is actually listed on the reservation that matters. I could be wrong, but having yourself on 2 reservations at the same resort will cause you problems. I would just put them as the guests on the secondary reservation.

ETA: Two Thanksgivings ago we used our points for a studio for my wife and I and then a 1 BR for my mom, dad, and sister at BLT (we were there an extra night so didn't do a 2 BR lockoff). We were on one reservation and the 3 of them were on the other. We ended up being lucky and having a lockoff anyway.

Recently had a family trip at VDH last month. I booked our two bedroom and then my daughter’s family for a studio. I’m only on my reservation and she was primary on her own. I listed all the occupants in each room & still had all the same control on modifications. She links it and checks in all as being her own reservation. You won’t need to be on other reservation. Just list all in each room. Being there I could see all went good through the stay including the DVC parking etc.

A single Disney user account cannot be linked to two hotel rooms simultaneously. You could create a dummy account for the second room and get a plastic key card to access. You cannot configure a MagicBand to access to rooms simultaneously. But personally I can't think of a good reason to maintain access. Kinda gives off vibes of "sure it's your private room for the week but since I'm paying, I'm having my own key made so that I can come and go as I wish."

It will be fine to put just the occupants of the second room on the reservation — they will be able to access it without you with no issues.

My sister and her family used my points for a reservation last summer when I wasn’t in Florida at all. I set up the reservation with their names, and they handled check-in, payments, and access entirely on their own.

If you do have a reason to need access to the second room (such as while babysitting) you can ask one of the people in that room to get a physical key card that they can loan you when necessary.

That is really helpful and I get that. I don't want to give them that vibe but initially thought it would be helpful to be on the room so I can help deal with issues. Taking myself off now!

You don't need to set up a dummy account. Just have one of the guests listed in that room ask for a key card. They can even tell the front desk that it's to give to you in case you need to enter that room.
