EXPIRED - Direct Sales Incentives - Summer 2020 - Expanded list!

Do you mean even if the race is still on but you don't want to go to the race? That I don't actually know. I'm not sure if they'd make you schedule your stay to include race weekend.
Exactly. If you might Not want to run that year for example ;)

I'm sorry, I might not have been clear.

The premium cost was 118. But that cost was FIXED when the resort opened, and when it opened the point chart was different (I think it opened 2018?). So, Week 47 - which is Thanksgiving most years - is still 118 to purchase as a fixed week. But if I booked that week in 2021 *normally*, it would cost 123 points because the point chart changed. However, I *never* pay extra, because I purchased a fixed week.

Thus, if I leave the reservation alone / keep my fixed week, I don't pay the difference in point cost between my fixed week cost and the current cost of the week, now or in the future. This does mean if they change the point charge to make Thanksgiving week the cheapest week - say it costs 100 points - I still "pay" 118 points for my fixed week (though I could always cancel, get the 118 points, and then rebook for 100 points).

If I decide to cancel my fixed week, I only get back the number of points that fixed week cost me, ie, 118. So even though in 2021 that total week costs *normally* 123 to book, if I cancel my fixed week, I just get 118 back - the cost of my fixed week.

Does that make sense? I hope I'm explaining it well.

Thanks for this info. I am trying to understand fixed weeks and this helps. So, if you were to buy a fixed week now is it calculated using the [price the number of points needed for a given week right now] x [the current point price] plus 10%? Are incentives allowed when buying the fixed week (for example 150 points at Riviera is 180 vs 195 ppt)? How do you find out if a fixed week is available (assuming you ask a guide)?

They were allowing incentives n fixed weeks. Not sure if they still are with newest ones.

No, a fixed week is calculated at the Fixed Week price set when the resort opened (at least, that's the case with CCV). This is why I jumped on getting a fixed week at Copper Creek, because the fixed weeks were a good deal. The current cost for them is the Fixed Week Cost x The Current Point Price. The Fixed Week Cost *was* the cost of the week at the time the resort opened for sales plus 10%.

Incentives ARE allowed and you just ask a Guide if the week is available. It may take them 24 hours to get back to you, as it is a different department that they have to check with and get an answer from. I literally bought 2 Fixed Weeks at CCV last week - Weeks 47 and 48 - and I know that week 52 (New Years and most years Christmas) was also available. The Fixed Week cost for 47 and 48 were 118, and for Week 52, it's 168. Because I got them at the same time, they counted as buying 200+ points, so I got the $35 off per point incentive and paid $185/point instead of $220/point.

If you do a google search for "Copper Creek Fixed Week Ownership Option" you'll find an article that lists the costs of Fixed Weeks at Copper Creek. You can also purchase Fixed/Guaranteed Weeks at Aulani and Riviera currently. I did not ask if they are still selling FW at Polynesian and Grand Floridian Villas.

To give an idea:
In 2017, when CCV opened, Week 47 was 107 points. (It happened to be one of the odds years when Thanksgiving was week 46, not 47). Thus, a Fixed Week is 118 points: 107 + 10%(11).

Now, in 2020, the Fixed Week cost is 116 points, as the point chart has changed. However, the cost to purchase the Fixed Week is still 118.
In 2021, which is the first time I'll get the guaranteed week (I still got the points for 2019 and 2020, but you have to have bought 11 months prior to the start of your fixed week to get the guaranteed reservation), the cost of Week 47 is 123 points (again, point chart changed). However, the cost of the Fixed Week is *still* 118. If I use it, I get my week, which essentially means I got those 5 points for free. If I cancel using the week, I get 118 points I actually purchased to spend.

Week 48 was also 107 points when CCV opened, costing me 118 points. In 2020, that week is 107 points, but in 2021, it's 110 points. My Fixed Week is 118 points, so I'm paying 8 points more if I keep the reservation (but I don't have to go through the hassle of trying to book it!). But I'm only paying 8 points more, rather than the original 11.

Week 52 for example costs 168 to purchase as a Guaranteed Week. In 2020, that week is 152 points, so you're paying slightly more (+16 points), but this is partly because the week starts on 12/27 this year. In 2021, however, the week starts on 12/26 and likely costs 170 points (I say likely because the last day is Jan 1 and the 2022 chart isn't out yet, so I used Jan 2021 point cost for it). So in that case, you're still only paying 168 points for a week that now costs 170. Which is why I was tempted to pick it up, but it just wasn't in my budget to add another 168 points direct at this time. (And in 2022, Week 52 starts with Christmas, so that week would be 183 points under the 2021 point chart, but you wouldn't pay more - just the 168 you bought it for).

Not every FW will work out that way, of course. September Fixed Weeks are likely to have gone down under the 2021 chart, but it gives you an idea of how it works. Riviera FWs are likely to be about the same, since the resort only opened last year, so there hasn't been as much time for it to vary, and the Aulani point chart seems to be about the same as opening in 2011.

I... Did not know this! Thank you for this tidbit. I thought the FW points price was based on the current year points chart.

I used this chart to help me get started (it has 2020-2030), as I wanted to calculate out the starting days for Weeks 47 & 48 until CCV expires and saved the doc so I'd always have it. Mostly because I was trying to figure out which years Thanksgiving is Week 46 (2029, 2035, 2046, 2052, 2057, and 2063 from now till 2068, for those who might be curious):

Disney's weeks start on Sunday, so you use that to determine the first day of the Fixed Week.

There's bits of information in 4 different threads so I thought it would be helpful to consolidate everything to one post that I can update as we fill in the gaps. Please post below what you find out!

Here is a link to the same information in a tabular format that @i<3riviera did, for those who find that easier to read

What's your opinion on these incentives? Do you think this is a better deal than you can typically get or could we see better when this expires since shutdowns are hurting sales? I want to add on some direct points but am not in a rush.

This is certainly better than the incentives that were offered pre-Covid-19 shutdown, so in that regard, I'm glad I waited. I may kick myself if better deals come. I think there's a chance the deals get better, or they may extend this current offer; there's also a chance that sales have picked up enough that this is the best they'll offer. It's hard to know!

I haven't been around as long as many others but as best as I can tell these are some of the best incentives we've seen in a while.

I think the incentives will likely improve but I don't know what that will look like. Could be that they offer something like free annual passes instead of cutting the price per point. At worst I don't see the current incentives disappearing anytime soon.
