Ever saw a scary movie that REALLY scared you?

Psycho. My parents wouldn't even let me see that when it first came out. I was 12. I had to wait until it was re-released. Wouldn't take a shower unless someone was home with me for years! :rotfl:

The Exorcist was horrifying to me. A week after seeing it I had a miscarriage. Maybe a coincidence, maybe not. It really scared me a lot!

Not a horror movie but Shindler's list had me so involved that I was actually shaking. One thought kept going through my head: How did those people stand that type of terror for so long? :guilty:

The Exorcist, The Exorcism of Emily Rose(that one scene when she's on the floor just STARING at that guy all contorted up......*shudders*) and The Mothman Prophecies.

i usually don't get scared at movies, unless they say "based on true events" then i freak out a bit.

I'm a horror movie freak!!

The bestest, BESTEST, BESTEST, horror flick is>>>>>>>>>>>>>>

ROSEMARY'S BABY, AND THE EVIL DEAD

Rosemary's baby was rated one the top 5 scary movies of all time!

If you haven't seen either one, DO! Maybe get some depends also, cause it'll scare the pee out of ya'

Somewhere between 7 and 10 I watched the exorcist. Scared the living daylights out of me but I couldn't stop watching.

Myst

Ok mine are going to be considered not true "horror" movies but they still made me sorta "scared/upset"
Beautiful Mind -- that guy was so seriuosly ill and no-one realized
Butterfly effect. NOW that one was scary enuff that I did something I had NEVER done before -- left the theatre in tears! HUbby grabbed coats & purse and chased after me! Didn't even get past the 1st 10 minutes

Like lots of others, when I hear "eery music" on tv for the previews I either cover face or just squeeze eyes tight -- oh & I am 44 years old stupid me

Not the ommpa loompa but the trippy scene on the boat used always freak me out i still cannot watch it
Me, too! I hated those weird scenes in the tunnel, and Willie Wonka just sitting there, singing that creepy little song about not knowing where they are going- yikes!

The other scene that scared me to no end as a kid was in The Wizard of Oz- the Wicked Witch turning over the big hourglass and telling Dorothy, "You'll be dead by the time this runs out", and Aunt Em's face turning into the Witch's in the big crystal ball.

I don't watch bloody horror movies anymore- I find that as I get older, I just don't have the stomach for all the gore- too gross for me.

But I do still like the good old scary movies- The Others scared me, and The Grudge freaked me out. I definitely DO NOT want to see the Grudge II.

I refuse to watch the Exorcist. Movies like that scare me to death. My daughter goes to Georgetown, and supposedly they filmed the scene where the priest falls or gets thrown down the narrow, steep stairs in that area. We walked down them when we visited and it gave me the creeps. A movie that scared me when I was in high school was Poltergeist and Halloween. Carrie was also pretty scary.

I've watched quite a few horror movies by myself--"Blair Witch", "Ringu" etc. Dh doesn't like them very much. I still can't get all the way through "The Exorcist" or "Silence of the Lambs" though.

The first Scream movie scared me the most. Why? Because instead of weird massive amounts of gore and monsters and ghosts, this movie actually seemed realistic. Like this is something that could happen to me! And it didn't help that people were walking around in that darn costume either.

The scariest movie I ever saw was an old black and white movie called the Haunting of Hill House. It's from the book by Shirley Jackson. (which is also pretty scary). They did a remake called the Haunting with Liam Neeson, but believe me, it didn't come close to the original. The scariest scene is when two of the women are locked in a bedroom and something is going down the hallway pounding on all the doors like it is looking for them. I stayed up all night after watching this movie.

I have never been really truly scared at a movie except for one time, and I believe it was situational. lol
When my old boyfriend and I were in school we both worked at a local movie theater, on nights when I would get finished cleaning up theaters I would always go and see the newest one until closing or something needed done. Well one night I got the great idea to watch "The House on Haunted Hill" not to be confused with the old great horror flick "The Haunting of Hill House" or the new version of that "The Haunting"
Well I was in the theater with one other person who got up and left (to this day I am not sure if the person who left got scared or what :confused3 ) So I was alone in this theater watching this movie about an old psychiatric facility popcorn:: .... and my boyfriend walked in and the door slammed
Lets just say, it scared me :rotfl:

Oooh - that's a good one! Anyone know if they still have the Bates' mansion at Universal? Mrs. Bates Skeleton in the rocking chair is on display at Planet Hollywood Vegas.

The Shining is one of my favorite movies! Talk about spooky! One of the spookiest scenes - The ghosts of the murdered twins standing in the hallway ... begging Danny to "Come play with us." Spooky!
Stephen King's story of the Overlook Hotel is based on a real hotel called the Stanley, which is said to be haunted. Stephen King supposedly witnessed paranormal activity there himself.

A group of my friends and I went and stayed at the Stanley overnight, looking for ghosts. It was so much fun! I swear there was a ghost when I went to bed that night. Everytime I would move there were sparks.

None of the over the top horro movies really scared me, but the movie that still makes me shudder is the orginal "When a Stranger Calls" with Carol Kane. I was babysitting age when I saw that and I was never the seem. I know it was recently re made, I should probably rent it to see if I have matured.

That movie freaked me out too, I was probably the same age too. I don't want to see the remake either.

The Grudge was scary. I thought Mothman Prophecies was scary.

Seven. That movie scared that poo out of me! As soon as I walked out of the theater I went to the movie poster to see who wrote it, because I never wanted to see anything by that writer. It was just too creepy.

"Don't open the box Brad, stay away from the box!!!"

That is what I was sceaming at the end.

When I was a kid, I was terrified of ALL horror type films and flat out refused to watch any of them at my friends sleepovers.

As a teenager I started getting into that genre and as an adult I love them. And honestly, it takes a LOT to truly freak me out. But I won't lie...both The Ring and The Grudge scared the bejeesus out of me. Even now, I catch myself looking behind my back on staircases because of The Grudge :rotfl:

But since I'm a sucker for that kind of stuff AND because it's Halloween and it's practically written law you have to scare the crap out of yourself...I will be going to see The Grudge 2 this week :rolleyes1

Oh, and for some reason, Signs, creeped me out too. I don't know what it was. M. Night Shyamalan is pretty good at keeping you on edge.

saw grudge 2 tonight and it scared me!! but i like scary movies anyways, dh on the other hand....

Psycho. That one stayed with me the longest of any scary movie.

This movie gave me nightmares for years. I saw it as a young girl with my older brother.

Another one that scared the heck out of me was 13-Ghosts. The original. More nightmares.

Now I avoid most horror movies, with a few exceptions. If it is like the Jason movies or chainsaw, etc., no thanks. I like suspense a lot and I really liked The Cell and The Ring for some reason. Guess the older I get the more I can tolerate these.

Well, I am only 15 but I really lve horror movies. The only ones that have really scared me are the Child's Play Series. I couldn't sleep right for a couple months after just seeing parts of those. I'm interested in the Exorcist but I know if I do it will scare the holy crap outta me!
