Epcot or Hollywood Studios if arriving mid-morning

My family and I will be coming off a Disney Wish cruise the morning of February 21st (Friday). I was planing on doing the express embarkation and taking a uber to get to the parks as early as possible. I’m thinking even if we get off the boat at 7:30, drop our bags at our hotel, (Swan) the earliest we can hope to get to a park is 10/10:30 assuming everything goes perfectly. I was planning on doing Epcot that day as I figured they would have less things my kids would be interested in- they are 9-14 yrs old. I’ve been reading that rope dropping Epcot is really important if you want to try and get on all the main rides. My question is, can I get all the main rides in at Epcot assuming I have LLMP and that I am able to book late morning reservations or would I be better off doing Hollywood Studios this day as I read somewhere the lines for rides go down in the evening? Or is it too ambitious or a waste of $ to even try to go to a park on a busy weekend if you can’t get there first thing in the morning? Are the lines going to be long at Epcot all day or do they start to go down at some point and will the fact that it is the last weekend of the Festival of the Arts play into this?

If you buy LLMP with your first pass after 10:30, you will likely have to choose between Remy and Frozen. They are both Tier 1, and all the passes will probably be gone by the time of your first LL tap-in. If you can accept that, you could have a great day in Epcot. DD11 and I usually hop to Epcot and knock out everything except Remy (line too long) and GOTG (too fast for us). Coming from IG, I would do a lap through WS with lunch somewhere tasty and Frozen LL and then hit the fka Future World section in the afternoon/evening. Lines tend to be reasonable as everyone heads to WS for dinner. You may want to buy LLSP if GOTG is a priority. If budget is limiting and your kids are into coasters, you might consider buying GOTG and skipping LLMP (and both Frozen and Remy). You can stay until fireworks and then walk home.

I don’t know HS availability as well as Epcot, but I think you’d also have more limited refresh options with a late start there. If your kids like rides, I would

Then decide based on what rides/attractions your family most wants to experience. For us, Epcot is about the ambiance and food as much as rides. At HS, it’s mostly about rides with a show or sprinkled in. For me, if I can go to HS with three LL rides, a LLSP for RotR, pickup LL for Millennium Falcon later in the day, ride ST on standby, watch Muppets and BotB/Indy, then stay for Fantasmic, that’s a pretty good day.

If you want to hit every ride at Epcot or HS, that’s unlikely unless you have time to wait in some long lines for headliners.

First, has your family been to Epcot much? There is so much to see if it is new to you. Even if you don’t get on both Remy and Frozen.

Festival of the Arts (F*ARTS) will still have 3 days to go. The scavenger hunt is really fun and your kids might love it

There are other activities including the play Disney app, kidcot stations and the ducktales missions—app based but real effects and interactions in WS in doing the missions. Epcot was my kids favorite park at that age.

I would save Hollywood Studios for a day you are planning to rope drop. You really have to rope drop that park to ride all the popular attractions. Epcot really only has two rides that typically have a big line (at least until Test Track reopens) - Remy's and Frozen. So I don't think rope dropping is as critical for that park. With the virtual queue system for Guardians, the wait to get on that ride once you get in line is usually about 45 minutes or less.

Definitely Epcot, you want to rope drop HS. Get a VQ for guardians while on ship if you can at 7am, I would also do a LLSP for it so can ride at least once possibly twice. Get an llmp for remy, no chance of getting on the day. You will be at the park by 10am so get an llmp for either spaceship earth or Nemo for 9:30-10:30. Ride on entry and you should be able to get llmp for soarin or possibly very late for frozen. You should be prepared to line up for frozen, so just do it when you are nearby or if you are staying all day late at night (or take a break in arvo). The line is always long unless you are very lucky.
