We were at the festival for the first two days. We enjoyed a number of dishes. My favorite was Sous Vide Poulet Rouge Chicken Roulade at Pop Eats. The dish was beautiful and the chicken was very flavorful. The Pop’t Art: Modern-design Sugar Cookie with Strawberry Filling at the same booth was unfortunately our least favorite. Even with five of us taking bites (two tweens and two adults), about a third of it was still thrown away. It was just too sweet. However, those same tweens loved the Artist Palette Jumbo Chocolate Chip Cookie. I think they enjoyed spreading the “paint” around the cookie and actually ate quite a bit of it even though it was very large.
I did not try it because I do not like lobster, but those around us at Taste Track were raving about the lobster mac and cheese. The trio of churros at that booth were not good though (churros did not taste freshly made and the frosting was very sticky).
My daughter and I did the Ink and Paint workshop on Saturday. We both felt it was not worth our time. Ugh. We both had a hard time following instructions based on the camera angles for the overhead projector. We inked a Mickey Mouse. She said this year future sessions will also sometimes have Minnie Mouse or Goofy I think.
It was very crowded, but we found most of the food lines moved quickly. Some dishes just take a while to make or plate (Sous Vide Poulet Rouge Chicken Roulade for example).... So bring your patience.
Both of our tweens made a scarf which was very fun. A small square scarf was about $29 per “experience”. We found it was worth it. The girls got to make their own and they turned out very different which was really cool. You pick your own colors and then can select a design. Really a fun project and a memorable experience overall.
We also enjoyed stopping by the Tom’s tent. One of the artists made some amazing custom designs of my daughter’s horses. They have lots of fun Disney choices too. The hand painted designs seemed to range from $25 to $70 plus the cost of the shoes (which I think were around 40ish).
We really enjoyed shopping all the artist tents as well. So much fun to see the range of artwork. This was our first time at the Festival. We have also done Garden and FW…. but this one was our favorite overall since it seemed to have a little something for everyone in our group: art, shopping, activities, and FOOD
