How is the buffet lunch here compared to cabanas? Also what time is lunch served?

Both are open when boarding begins. We go to PC when on the classics, but my adventurous DD didn't find anything she liked at the EG buffet the first day. There were many more options at Cabanas.

We are just off the Dream. Enchanted garden was not open for embarkation lunch on 10/19, just Cabanas.

that's the place we go...

its much more relaxed, significantly less crowded and the beverages are brought to your table (coffee/oj much better than out of the machines at Cabana's)...food is excellent and plenty of variety..

in the past we always went to cabanas but last two trips we went to EC and it'll stay that way...

Hi.
Although I'll be on the Dream in December with my family, my mom and my sister's family, I'll also be doing an adult-only trip with my mom next September.

Are there any restaurants on the Dream that serve breakfast or lunch for non suite guests other than the buffet?

Thank you very much.

Royal Palace and/or Enchanted Garden are the main dining rooms that serve breakfast and lunch on the Dream. You will have to look at your Navigator to see which one(s) are open each day.

They should both be open every day but the first day (then it's just EG). EG is a buffet and RP is sit-down. That's always been the case, unless something has changed recently.

On the Oct 2 Dream 3-night, EG and RP were open for breakfast everyday, but EG was not open for lunch on Nassau day and neither were open for lunch on CC day.

That's always been the case on our 3-night cruises.

we went on the Fantasy and it was just meh to me, probably my least favorite meal on the entire cruise.

Oh I see. I've never been on a 3-night. And now that you mention it, there may have been days when one or both may not have been open and I just didn't notice. See? Learn something new every day!

Thank you.
So when we do a girls only trip on the Dream we can go to one of the restaurants for breakfast and lunch thus avoiding the buffet if we wish?
Thank you all very much.

We usually do the sit down lunch as much as possible as I'm not a fan of the buffets. They are open most days but only about 1 1/2 to 2 hours a day.

We did lunch at Enchanted Garden on embarkation day on our 4 night Dream cruise this summer. I want to say it wasn't open until 12:30? I think. I know we went right when we embarked, but had to wait a little while before it was opened. A year ago we did Cabanas upon embarking and it was nuts, but I liked the buffet. So I was skeptical about EG, but ended up really enjoying it. Although it is a buffet, it's still nice to have your drinks brought to you, and the extra attention of the wait staff. They took care of my DD's food allergies by bringing her special plate of what she requested right to the table.
The selection was lovely, certainly enough to choose from. We got there early, so the lines were good, but I do say, get there early as the lines do start to get long.
Unless we ever wanted to be poolside, which we get enough of during the cruise, I think I would always pick EG from now on after getting onto the ship. It was just a nice way to start off~

Cabanas is a zoo on embarkation day.

EG is much more relaxed and that's where we go.

That's not always the case. We always choose the first PAT and get on the ship soon after boarding starts. There's usually no one at Cabanas when we get there. We stay for about an hour and it still isn't too crowded when we leave.

We weren't that lucky--when we attempted to eat there we saw it was a zoo.

I think everyone hears or reads "Cabanas" for lunch and that's where they swarm.

And I should add that on our first cruise when we asked the Concierge about Cabanas for lunch that first day she said not to go there and to go to EG instead

For just 2 adults she thought it would be less kids and more quiet.

And it was both!!!

Agreed. Both of my cruises so far I've had an early boarding time and gone to Cabanas and even when leaving it has not been a zoo. I've even wandered back through while exploring the ship much later in the boarding process and it wasn't zooy. There are almost always tables outside - my last cruise I was in Cabanas for about an hour just chilling at an outside table and in spite of it being a glorious day, I was STILL the only person out there when I left! The servers assigned to the area were actually asking me if they could go and get anything for me as they had nothing else to do.

We got off the Fantasy today. EG was not open for breakfast or lunch at all during our cruise. When we inquired on embarkation day about EG, we were told that they were "elevating their level of service and you may notice some changes on the ship." Cabanas and Royal Court were open for breakfast & lunch everyday. The first 3 days of cruise the food was served to us at Cabanas. This is why EG was closed... extra staff were needed to serve us at the buffet and serve us at the drink stations. Deck eleven drink stations were not open 24 hours. Also extra staff to hand out sanitizing wipes. On day 4 they started allowing us to serve ourselves, but wanted us to not only sanitize our hands when entering Cabanas, but also before using the beverage station, and they wanted us to sanitize between food stations (difficult to do when holding at least 1 plate of food). I was hopeful that they would open EG later in the cruise, but they did not. Hopefully it is open going forward. I have to admit, it was nice to have someone serve me at Palo brunch, then carry my plates to the table (DH's plate did not get carried to the table for him :) ). The staff serving the Palo brunch even suggested items on the buffet that DH and I would not have otherwise tried (I'm not a big fan of sticky buns...but I ate it & went back for a second one).
