You had me curious, as I've been to Aulani a few trips, and just booked our next one! Yay! Took a little searching, but did find a July 8th review on Yelp for what the reviewer called their "soft opening". If they had a soft opening that many days ago, I assume they are open. The Ko Olina Station website still shows them as "coming soon!". Here's the link to yelp with the review:

Thanks for the yelp link, southerngirl528. Does sound like a weird ordering system. I had the same problem with their website but had read somewhere that it had opened. We may give it a try in January. Thanks again.

The Waikiki location has excellent food. Be sure to get the Loco Moco.

Yes, the ordering system was a bit strange. I recall reading the menu and ordering while standing in line. When a table was free, I was directed to first pay the bill, then they sat us down and brought the food. I put cash in the tip jar, instead of adding it to advance payment via CC.

Thanks for the review of the Waikiki location, Paul. Good idea about cash in the tips jar and a great heads up to have cash. Doesn't make much sense to tip on service one is yet to receive.

In many trips to HI, I've yet to try Loco Moco. Heresy, I know. Time to rectify that. Have you tried Ama Ama's version?

DH loves AMA AMA's version of Loco Moco! I swear a proper plate of loco moco could feed a family of 4!! :teeth:

He also really loved Highway Inn's version with their house smoked meats and fried rice instead of white rice. So ono!!!

Good to hear about Ama Ama's version, thanks. It may turn out that we just end up there. We love all three meals at Ama Ama although it is expensive. Can't beat the view and relaxing atmosphere. We always intend to dine more away from the resort but end up having most meals on site. :headache: Thanks about Highway Inn as well. I noticed they have a mini version of loco moco which sounds more my size! Have you tried the one in Waipahu? I noticed it lists a fish market there.

Hmm. I looked at their website and map, as it has been about 3 or 4 years, and we went to Highway Inn after an early morning at Pearl Harbor. I'm pretty sure we went to the Kaka'ako location as we were on our way to Ala Moana after Pearl Harbor. I know they had a counter with poke to takeout, but I did not look to see if it was a full fish counter or just poke.
