Eating ALL THE THINGS! 1/9 - 1/17

I also miss Mizner's Lounge. I think I would have preferred a more traditional, library style English pub to the contemporary, Vegas-leaning style they went with.

I’m not sure I have enough effusive adjectives to describe last night’s meal. Everything was exquisite - the atmosphere, the decor, the service, the plate ware/stemware/silverware, and most importantly the food.

I was greeted by name upon arrival and immediately seated at a small table with a view of the harpist. 4FFEA22C-5933-4423-A640-EF880B074FED.jpeg39FF8AA3-07CD-44E4-BD77-6DA9BF94F240.jpeg

The two servers who were assigned to my table were fabulous. Service was formal, without being too stuffy. I was offered both the main dining room menu and the Queen Victoria menu as I had inquired about moving to the Victoria room if there was availability. Not sure if everyone gets a choice of menu, but they made it seem like a special touch for me. And of course I did the degustation menu.

Started with an aperitif and three small bites.

Rose champagne with caviar. This started things off fabulously. I never used to like caviar - now I can’t get enough.

Then the first of three breads and butters served throughout the meal - baguette with salted butter.

And champagne with hiramacha served with carrot sauce. Very interesting flavor profiles - I don’t think I’ve had a carrot sauce like this before.

I’m not clear on what varietal this technically was, but it was a lightly oaked mild white. Paired with turbot in a brown butter sauce. This was one of the two added courses on the expanded menu and was fabulous.

Then what I’m calling a croissanty thing, but which had a much fancier name I’ve forgotten. So good. 8512620E-0B09-47B8-A674-E1F025C01803.jpegF31E9C3E-B770-45C4-8018-7356EA32A7FE.jpeg

Pinot noir with toothfish. I thought it was odd to pair a red with a fish course, but should not have doubted. The fish plus sauce plus mushrooms ate almost like a meat and was fabulous.

Manduria paired with a tortellini. I swear buried under that Parmesan foam and all those truffles are delightful celeriac tortellini. This was a standout dish even amongst all the other stars.

A Lebanese red paired with venison dish. Very good - although the sweet potato purée didn’t come close to Monsieur Paul’s. The venison was fabulous and very tender for a fake game meat.

And finally Chateauneuf-du-pape with A-5 Wagyu. This was the second added dish with the degustation menu and was worth the upgrade alone. Melt in your mouth. And the potatoes! Thin layers crisped in the fat from the Wagyu. Nom nom nom. I’m not sure this dish can be topped.

I am so enjoying this report. We will be there at the beginning of March, and my spouse eats very little (both in quantity and variety). However she has no problem with going to places where I can try new things. So now I have some new ressies to stalk thanks to you!

Damn, this all looks insane. We're so hyped for our trip in a few weeks! Super appreciate you sharing your photos and experience! It's actually very helpful for us to think about whether we'll ask for substitutions.

I'm not big on non-fish seafood, so I'm a little wary of the caviar. We're thinking my husband will order it (he's in on trying it) and I may get a substitute--so I can try a tiny bite of his without having to take too big a risk of not liking the full course. But I tend to be overly cautious that way!

I had to check out and back into my room this morning which took a bit longer than expected, but I parked at DHS (where I’m planning to end the night) and jumped on skyliner to EPCOT.

I got one of the cute Figment Giftcard wristbands. Unfortunately the clasp that holds the GC to the bracelet doesn’t really latch. I almost lost the GC twice before I gave up and put it in my bag.

I took Friendship Boat from Morocco to Canada and then meandered my way back to France for my Remy LL

I started with the Boar Cassoulet and Rose Cider from Pastoral Palate near Germany. 1A34874F-5FA2-40E0-A588-70EC70125A93.jpegDAE4BE7E-4ACC-4300-BCEF-FCBA4E9E72A9.jpeg

This was both good and bad. Good because it was excellent. The pieces of boar sausage on top were a little dry on their own but great when mixed with the cassoulet. Bad because the portion was huge. I couldn’t even finish it all (maybe I’m a bit fooded out for the trip), so it both started and ended my lunch. Rode Remy and while in line managed to snag a ToT LL for 2:10. They had been out before my second selection at 11AM. Score! So I’m on a boat back over to DHS now.

DHS was crazy busy today. At 3PM, some of the posted waits included:
TSMM: 120 minutes
Tower of Terror: 150 minutes
Ride of the Resistance: 120
RnR: 140 minutes
Slinky: 165 minutes

I rode ToT and RnR with LL and then caught 4PM Beauty and Beast show before heading to Dolphin for dinner.

Started at Shula’s with a blueberry martini.

This was meh. Tomatoes were mushy and while inside of burrata was ok there was something wrong with the “skin”.

Thank your wonderful V&A report. We have such lovely memories from trips gone by. I must say, while our meals were always magnificent, and I wouldn’t trade our evenings there for anything, your experience seems to have been even more spectacular. I’m so glad that they’ve maintained such a high standard since reopening. We have not been able to return to V&A since Christmas Eve 2016. I know that my appetite has shrunk quite a bit from that point. I don’t think that I could handle such a degustation these days. But, if you don’t mind, I can enjoy living and eating vicariously through your incisive reports!

Back to DHS where I rode MMRR, ROTR, and TSMM with LL.

Had one last pink drink at my favorite DHS bar - Tune-Up. I miss when they had barstools and you could walk up and eat at the bar. Alas.

It was too cold for an alcoholic root beer float tonight, but I spotted this at one of the kiosks outside Indy and it’s now on my list for future visits.

And then jumped into the standby queue for ROTR just before park close. It was posted 45 minutes but took just a tad longer due mostly to a 20 complete stop. I had just decided that it must have broken down and we were all out of luck when it started moving again. Huzzah.

Tomorrow I have park reservations at MK and lunch reservations at Jungle Skippers. No idea what I’ll actually end up doing, but tentative plan is MK late morning/afternoon, EPCOT or Resort dinner, and back to MK to finish out the night. The only thing on my to do list is one last ride on Splash.

Have to say just how much I'm enjoying this thread, thank you for sharing! Also, I'm always so nervous to plan a "lounge" trip vs making a reservation for say the Brown Derby, seeing your photos of the food and drinks from the BD lounge are giving me the "courage" to try that in May when we come back!

Had a nice, quiet morning relaxing. Did get up at 7 to make a Peter Pan LL reservation then went back to bed. Eventually made my way over to TTC around noon. Just missed a ferry boat - perfect - that means it’s iced coffee time from the Joffries stand.
DE1A7596-1CA5-4DDC-B14B-89695118EC06.jpeg

Somehow hit MK perfectly to take in all the streetsmosphere. Caught some of the Dapper Dans show, then the Casey’s Corner pianist, and then the marching band.

Rode Pirates, Under the Sea, Small World, Peter Pan, and Haunted Mansion before checking in early to my Jungle Skippers Cantina late lunch reservation.

Started with a Jungle Bird cocktail (didn’t realize they had cocktails in addition to wine/beer now - nice touch). - features Gosling Black Rum, Campari, cane syrup, and pineapple and lime juices.
0A5EE36F-FF0D-42B6-AACF-C4CDFCC382C1.jpeg
This was ok - it’s got a really bitter kick to it. Not my favorite cocktail ever, but my first cocktail in Magic Kingdom. So I’ll take it.

Veranda Fried Rice - Spicy chili-garlic shrimp served over pork fried rice with eggs and peas.
5F408DA5-C5DA-48F1-BE4C-C3C071A40BA1.jpeg
This is a great dish. Technically an appetizer, but large enough for lunch. Especially since I had my eye on a dessert.

Kungaloosh! - An African-inspired Chocolate Cake with caramelized bananas served with cashew-caramel ice cream topped with coffee dust.

This was excellent. Even better than I expected. Chocolate cake was very dense and rich.
