DVC OWNERS questionnaire. (statistical)

Thanks for responding,
You said SSR at SAP. What does the abbreviation SAP stand for, that one stumped me.

Sleep around points. I use them in conjunction with my other points at 7 months to upgrade my room size or add extra nights!

I very rarely stay there!

11. What is your reasons you bought at the resort(s) that you own at

13. do your trips have a budget
yes but it's fluid.

1. how many points total and contracts
210pts VGF split into 3 contracts 60,75,75

2. did you pay in full or finance ( or both)
Bought direct- had them split the payments into 3 payments over 90 days using my Disney Visa, which had no interest for 6 months. Paid in full at the end of the interest free period
(Previously owed resale contracts, paid in full when buying those)

3. Did you have your house paid for prior to purchasing your first DVC contract
No

4. what do you do for a living
mammo/xray technologist in hospital

5. average trip stay and how often
Yearly since 2018. Average length at Disney is 4-5 days. We tend to split with a few days at a Universal resort. Sometimes shorter, sometimes longer. Depends on how many points we have. We usually do Universal if we are short on points or try something new, like Legoland.

6. average trip spend ( food, tix or AP, souvenirs, transport)
🤷🏼‍♀️ varies greatly. We have budget trips, we’ve had expensive trips. Depends on what else is going on that year. Last year we had 2 very expensive trips in one year (Aulani and DCL/disney/Universal) so our trip this summer is going to be a cheap trip. Staying at Fort Wilderness and only doing one park day along with water parks and Fort activities

We are also going for the first time Thanksgiving week this year. Expecting that to be on the higher end of our spending for vacations

7. do you fully outright own your point as of now, or still paying
Paid off

8. any regrets of buying.
Not really. We did own resale for a few years before we got VGF direct. When VGF was first on sale, I paid full price for 60 points because I wanted enough VGF points to do a girls weekend every once in awhile. Year later they had the fire sale so I bought another 150 points. If I had known the prices would have been so good later, I would have waited to buy that 60 points and that might have been more like 75. Oh well, can’t predict those things.

9. what accommodations do you usually stay in ( example: studio, 1 bedroom etc..)
We are a family of 5, but our oldest is in college so we have been 4 lately. Typically do a 1 bedroom as 4 people. We did a studio for 2 nights before our cruise last year. We will be traveling as a family of 5 for our Thanksgiving trip, so trying to do a 2 bedroom.

10. Do you mainly cook in your rooms or eat out throughout your stay.
If we have a kitchen, we tend to cook breakfast at least. We wake up early and like to have breakfast before the quick service places are even open. We tend to eat high protein so making eggs in the room is so much better than quick service eggs. We tend to throw in at least a table service breakfast, usually a character meal. Lunch/ dinner are typically out. I like to do a grocery order for breakfast stuff and snacks and maybe 1 option for lunch in the room, just in case we don’t feel like going out.

11. What is your reasons you bought at the resort(s) that you own at
I LOVE GF!! It’s my favorite. We previously owned SAP at SSR and were happy with that, as we don’t tend to book before 7 months and like to try new places each trip. Of course, as I Disney fan, I always had FOMO not being direct. I told DH if they ever had good prices on direct at monorail resorts, we would get direct. Jumped on VGF when they built VGF2. We still tend to use them as SAP since DH isn’t a fan of GF, but I am happy having direct and use VGF for girl trips when DH doesn’t come.

12. family size
5 Traveling as 4 lately, since DD20 is in college and working. She will be coming this year which is the first time in about 3 years

13. do your trips have a budget
Yes. It always varies but I usually have a certain budget in mind for each trip. Sometimes big, sometimes small. I tend to set a yearly vacation budget for all yearly travel. That tells me if we are doing a cheap -less park trip or full Disney/heavy park trip. I do work in a hospital that is extremely short staffed so it’s pretty easy to pick up OT to cover extra expenses. For instance, our trip last year was supposed to be a DCL cruise for the week. That was pretty much our budget for that trip. Well, Mickey’s Very Merry and Jollywood nights happened the weekend before. And then Orlando Informer was the night returned. Pretty sure my coworkers know when I have a Disney trip coming up, because my initials appear on the OT sign up board much more than normal.

I appreciate the response thank you

just a fellow owner thats has always been curious about it, if you don't want to respond that fine.
the entire point of the disboards is DISCUSSION.

You could have anonymized this by having individual survey questions. By putting it out where people identify themselves with their answers, you're creating a security risk for those people. Disboarders already put a lot of information out there. Combine that with the information you've requested about finances, and now scammers can target people easier.

I work for a company regulated by the US government in regards to how information we collect is used and distributed. If I told you the name of the company, you'd immediately understand why I'm super paranoid about information leakage. Not only would it be a black eye for the company, but we'd likely be on TV at a Congressional hearing and the front page of the newspaper, if we put out a public facing questionnaire like originally posted where anyone could read answers.

you are over reacting and no one is giving any pertinent info.

I don't know why it won't let me delete my prior post. Having technical difficulties!

Since I get three or more phone calls a day that shows up on my phone screen as “Probable Scam”, I think that people in Africa and anywhere else the scammers are located already have MORE information about me than replying to this post will give them. OP… You are also correct to be safe about what info you give out, I just don’t think that this survey will affect me.

Here goes...

1. how many points total and contracts 605 over five contracts: Poly, BLT, VDH, and OKW
2. did you pay in full or finance (or both) Paid full
3. Did you have your house paid for prior to purchasing your first DVC contract No, I wish.
4. what do you do for a living Project work: engineering and construction
5. average trip stay and how often We're kinda spastic. Sometimes a full week other times a few days. Some years both. We typically stay in two- or three-bedroom units, thus the points. Also, we tend to book around the 7 month or less mark. Wish we were better planners for a 11-month mark!
6. average trip spend (food, tix or AP, souvenirs, transport) Too much probably.
$2,000 park tickets (family of four, no park hopper at WDW but yes to park hopper at DL)

$1,600 airfare
$100 o $300 / day. Depends on how much we cook in the room. Typically do breakfast in the room and some dinners.
7. do you fully outright own your point as of now, or still paying Own
8. any regrets of buying. Should have bought sooner when we were considering BLT and/or VGC. Bought later when Poly came available. Wish we bought more at BLT.
9. what accommodations do you usually stay in ( example: studio, 1 bedroom etc..) Bedrooms. Usually, 2 or 3 bedrooms but occasionally 1 bedroom. This January we stayed in two studios as we couldn't get a bedroom at Disneyland (VDH or VGC). Our two daughters are early 20 somethings and need their space. And we also need our space! Everyone is much happier when we have some downtime at night.
10. Do you mainly cook in your rooms or eat out throughout your stay. Usually, breakfast before the parks open. Occasionally dinner when we have a large group. Saves money but gives everyone an opportunity to catch up on the trip. If staying at BLT, we've been known to head back for a lunch break and a nap if extended hours are on at MK.
11. What is your reasons you bought at the resort(s) that you own at
Poly - we were on a cruise and decided we wanted to join DVC.

BLT as it's a family favorite when visiting WDW. MK is my wife's favorite WDW park and its walking distance to the park.
VDH (2 contracts) because we prefer DL over WDW. And I like going to the DCA food and wine festival.

OKW was our last purchase. Needed more points for booking 2 and 3 bedrooms plus using OKW as a base for golf trips or non-park getaways.
12. family size Immediate size four adults. Occasionally extend family and friends for a total of 8. Believe that our daughters will start families of their own in the next 5-10 years.
13. do your trips have a budget Excluding cost and dues of DVC, typically less than $5k. Lower is better. Look for Disney gift card deals. Build up Disney Chase dollars. Use gift cards and Disney dollars to lessen the cost.

1) 65 points, one contract. Use to have 1500, but sold.
2) Originally financed, but the 65 paid cash.
3) No, but paid soon.
4) Me- Airline Captain, wife occupational therapist.
5) Now, a few days for F&W. That is different from before when we had 1500 points.
6) No clue. Would have to look it up. A lot.
7) Fully own
8) Yes. Not at the time, but Disney has left us. We sold many points.
9) Used to be 2br and GV. Now mostly studios.
10) Never cook.
11) F&W, but since that has gone into the toilet, maybe sell again.
12) Wife and Me.
13) Yes, but it would be hard to exceed it.
