I don't think we'll ever know whether that's true or not. I hope it isn't, but nowadays I have to admit it could be possible for someone to express their anger that way (although I don't know whether it's technically possible to mess up an elevator that way).

The real reason behind the closure? Some guy was pissed he had to wait for the lounge, went up the elevator (had not checked in) and ???? Punched the controls and messed it up appx 11 months ago. The elevator continued to work but not reliably. They closed the lounge to get the elevator fixed.

Not believing this. Not doubting that a CM told you this, but I know I've used that elevator more than once in the past 11 months.
