I just noticed that the seam on one of my DD's build a bear animals has come undone (the part where they sew them up after being stuffed). We'll be going to a mall that has build a bear this weekend, will they fix him? Free of charge?
Thanks!

Yes. They will fix it free of charge. Just bring it into them and tell them he came undone. It only takes about 5 mins.

My friend's DD had the seam come undone where the arm attached to the body of her bunny and they fixed that. I am CERTAIN they could fix the seam in the back where they stuffed him.

Yes. We recently had to take an animal to be repaired, and we didn't have any problems. It was a breeze!

Echoing everyone else, yes, Build-a-Bear will do repairs. They will also re-stuff the bear and do pretty much anything else.

This is good to know. DD got her first bear for easter and one arm is very floppy. I was hoping we could take it by the next time we swing by the mall and have some more fluff added.

We purchased a build a bear at a resale and I took it in when my dd's were buying another one to see if they could change out his address/locator tag inside and they said they couldn't. I figured they would just cut his seam and then restuff him....nope. They gave me this tag thing to change it online and then he can now wear a new tag around his wrist????? That doesn't seem like it would work.

I took one to be restuffed a few yrs ago, but her back was also undone at the seam. They were happy to fix my furry buddy up with some new stuffing and a sewn up seam in no time at all! :thumbsup2

Honestly, they were probably being lazy and didn't want to do the work. They could have opened him up, taken the tag out, given you the tag they give bears that have had their tags ripped off, had you input your info using that tag, put that tag inside your bear, restuffed him and then hand sewn him up. It's a process, but it could have been done.

...or at least, that's what I (or any of my coworkers) would have done when I worked there! Sorry they didn't bother to help you out. :confused3

Yes they will!! Here is my BABW warm and fuzzy story and why we are such fans of the store. Last winter my daughter was sick with the flu and she sleeps with her Cheetah every night. Well one night lets just say she could not make it to the bathroom and we had one gross cheetah. My daugther was distraught. I went to the store to buy some of that spray on cleaning stuff. The store manager told me to take all the stuffing out and wash the bear on cold with woolite. After it was cleaned to bring it back to the store to have it restuffed at no cost. Cheetah has been cleaned and restuffed and the staff made just a big of a deal to restuff the used cheetah as they would have a new. NOw that is service!!!

Yup been there done that with a bear I made for my son to be sent down to Guatemala until I could go down and bring him home. I was so distraught about it I emptied the stuffing actually washed him in the washer to get the stink out and brought him back they were more than happy to help.

I doubt it but that's just my guess. I would call your local store and ask them since it could vary by location.

Actually, TheRatPack isn't the only one to experience this. I once found a husky with the barking sound in it, picked it up for 2 bucks! I brought it in because I wanted to find out if they knew it's name or if I could get him reregistered. I also was told they would not remove the tag that is inside. I was allowed to rename him, but I had to go through their entire system manually to find his model, and all they did was print out a new birth certificate for him. I ended up naming him Balto. :)

Where I am, they encourage people to bring the animals back in if there's a problem, or even just to take it to the "grooming" station, where kids can pretend to wash and groom their animal. I realize it's really only just a ploy to get us to buy more stuff though. lol

I had an experience where the trigger mechanism in a talking Rudolph stopped working. We tried to bring it to BAB for a repair, but was told there was nothing they could do - the problem was probably a broken wire between the switch and the sound module and they no longer carried that style of Rudolph to even sell us a new one. (2 years after it was purchased)

Didn't realize they were still in business. Ours closed. Surprising since it was always packed.
