Do people still Uber to Speedway and walk to Hollywood Studios?

In order to get to Hollywood Studios early, last year we took an Uber from Pop to Speedway and then walked to HS. Is this still recommended, or will the Skyliner get us from Pop to HS early enough to rope drop RotR? Or, does the Swan allow early drop-offs without a reservation? I don’t see much mention of this lately, so perhaps with ETPE and the Skyliner running earlier it’s not necessary.

The ride share drop off for Hollywood Studios is now at the bus stop area, so it's easier to ride share and get dropped off without having to wait for the parking lot to open, plus safer than walking from speedway.

But yeah, from what I understand, the skyliner does start pretty early, so you can get to HS on time

You can get dropped off at Swan/Dolphin without a reservation - they are not operated by Disney and do not have a guard booth before the front door. The only gated area is the parking lot which you wouldn't need to enter for a drop off.

OP here, answering my own question. We just returned from our trip and there is no need to use a rideshare to HS. We got in line for the Skyliner 90 minutes prior to ETPE hours, waited about 10 minutes for the Skyliner to run, and got to HS early enough to basically walk on to RotR. Also then walked on to Smuggler’s Run and then TSM before the crowds picked up and we used Genie+ LL for the rest of the day.

Can I ask you about rope drop procedures for riding ROTR? Do you get walked back to the ride by CMs or is it a free for all once the rope drops? We've rope dropped SDD before at HS when we were at the front of the line for rope drop but they didn't do a great job of walking people back to the ride so it became a free for all and tons of people ran past us! Just wondering what the chaos level is like. Thanks!

There are now designated rideshare dropoff spots behind the DHS bus stops.

What time are the ride shares allowed in? And do they enter where the Disney buses do? I remember them having to enter in the normal parking area and weren't allowed any drop offs then until the parking lot opened. I also wonder if Uber/Lyft drivers know about this change.

Rideshares use the bus entrance now.

For RotR, we were not walked back. Cast members were placed along the route and were reminding people to walk, but many would quickly return to running once past the CM. Nothing seemed out of control though. As for other rope drops, we were walked back to Space Mountain at MK and FoP at AK, but Remy was more chaotic. Nobody leading or telling people to walk.

Thank you! That sounds similar to the rope drop experience we had for ROTR at Disneyland! We were able to get on the ride with a really short wait but people were definitely full on running at times! Did you rope drop Remy from the main entrance of Epcot or the International Gateway?

We rope dropped Remy from the International Gateway since we arrived on the Skyliner. We walked right on and were off of Remy 15 minutes prior to ETPE. Actually, we met the crowd coming from the main gate just as we entered Canada while we headed out of the World Showcase from France. So we had a significant time benefit at the IG.

All week, we followed the ‘arrive at the bus/Skyliner 90 minutes prior to park opening’ and it worked very well. We bought Genie+ but never paid extra for a ILL and we didn’t miss anything.

Thanks so much!

Thank You! I was considering changing my POP reservation. Just to clarify, 90 minutes before early hours or 90 minutes before rope drop?

We based it off of Early Theme Park Entry. So if ETPE was 8am, we were in Pop’s transportation line at 6:30am. We were usually about the 10th family in the bus/Skyliner line and the timing came out so nicely to hit the big rides at rope drop with minimal waiting. The transportation line did build very rapidly behind us, so I wouldn’t go much later.
