Disney's CARIBBEAN BEACH RESORT Information & Questions

We requested Jamaica 45 thinking that we'd walk across the bridge to take the bus from the Old Port Royale stop. Is that bus stop still there with the construction? Is it easy to get to or do you have to walk through a maze of construction fences? We really like the look and feel of things in the Jamaica section, but we don't want to rely on the bus not being full when it gets to us.

We never saw a full bus at Jamaica when we were there

What is the bus route now with the construction?

Martinique, Old Port Royale, Trinidad North, Trinidad South, Jamaica, Aruba.

The stop is there but a bit isolated/awkward to get to with all the construction. It might be easier to go to Trinidad North if you're worried about buses being full by the time they get to you, but unless you're a very large party or have a wheelchair/scooter or stroller, I wouldn't worry about it too much. Even in Aruba, most buses arrived with enough standing room to accommodate the people waiting... It was pretty much wheelchairs (us) and strollers that ended up waiting for an emptier one to come along.

Are half-gallon bottles of cold milk available for purchase in the temporary selling points (e.g., Island Markets)?

When travelling to WDW (typically at Pop or Coronado), I always buy such bottles and stock cold milk in the room fridge. However, I am worried not to find them at CBR during my upcoming stay (April).

I have a client who just checked out. Let me message her and see if she knows.

No,only the small milk cartons.

The Island Markets are really disappointing in terms of selection considering the length of the construction.

IMHO,they should have used connecting rooms and doubled or tripled the inventory.:)

So glad that you were able to answer. I just messaged my client and she couldn't recall seeing the larger containers of milk.

I am at the CBR right now. First time staying here and it will be my last. I had to go to pop century to get 1/2 gal milk for our fridge. I have no idea how they can classify this resort as a moderate when the amenities are less than what the value resorts are offering. We have gone to art of animation twice for food. The food tent smells like seafood and I cannot spend more than a couple mins in there at a time. (I have a seafood allergy)

Very disappointing.

I’m guessing that my expectations aren’t quite so high.
Whilst I’m not allergic to shellfish and have no need to stock any milk in the room fridge, those things in isolation wouldn’t stop me returning. It would be of more relevance to us if you’d let us know the response you received to your complaint about the shellfish smell in the food tent.

Thank you to all respondents. I am very happy to benefit of your advices.

I had reservations to both POP and CBR. I will cancel CBR and keep Pop Century.

Good plan to cancel CBR. I had to go to Pop Century tonight to get food.

I expressed my disgust with the folks at Pop and they took care of my meal.

Sorry if this was covered in an earlier post, but could you give an idea of what your expectations were going into your trip? Did you realize the resort was under construction when you booked? Do you feel like the whole experience has been misrepresented?

Surely you should be expressing your disgust at CBR. How can they fix a fault if you don’t tell them about it.... Pop food court aren’t going to fix CBR.
Whilst you are quite entitled to express your opinion and vote with your feet, it would be better for everyone if you told CBR what’s wrong so they can at least try and fix it for everyone else if not for you.

Call the Garden Grocer. 866-855-4350 and check out their site GardenGrocer.com (I learned about them in this site.) They will deliver whatever food items you need...directly to the CBR. We used them in September and were very impressed with their service. That said, the room refrigerators aren't huge so keep that in mind when you place your grocery order.

What the flip. The courtyard areas are all designated smoking areas? Are they stinky? We're pretty sensitive to it (though no allergies). Glad I noticed before I requested a courtyard room.

We just left CBR just last week. We were in Martinique building 26/room facing courtyard--- the courtyard was a NO SMOKING AREA---- there were quite a few signs designating that it was No Smoking.

2 days!
We've never even noticed the smoking areas much, but just in case I requested that we NOT be by one this time. With all the construction, I don't want other issues like that to make our stay less enjoyable. I suppose people who smoke ask to be by the smoking areas, so maybe it all balances out.

Grrr...I was just going through stacks of junk mail and I found what I think was a pin code that I could have used for this trip. It would have applied to this time period, but we would have needed to reserve with it by the end of January. We have rarely gotten any kind of codes from Disney and then I didn't use it! Ugh!

Stayed in Jamaica 4605 for 5 nights last week. The best part of this was the extremely close proximity to the bus stop. I really couldn't get much closer and this really made the stay for me. Otherwise, there was nothing exceptional about the room or resort for me. The room was definitely showing wear, but not to the point where I'd make a point to complain about it to management. The one thing I didn't like is that the king room just seemed very sparse on décor. It just looked like a king bed plopped in a room. I would think there would be something that could be done design-wise to make it not looks so haphazard.

The biggest negative was the room checks. I am a single woman traveling alone. I leave a light on in the bathroom when I leave for the day for my security and beyond that I have a visual disability and having a light on makes things easier for me. The first day I come in and they had drawn the doors to the sink area shut. I was a little freaked out and was fearful someone was in there. I ended up propping open the door in case I needed to make a quick exit and went and opened the doors. Yes, I know the likelihood someone was lying in wait for me was almost non-existent, but that fear was still there. The next day I came back and they had shut off the light and left the door to the bathroom closed. I did call and complain and got to speak to a manager. I just got a canned response about it being about security and maintenance checks. Really that is fine, but do they need to do it in such a way that makes me, the paying guest, feel fearful? I don't think leaving things the way the guest left them is too much to ask. And if the checks are for maintenance they aren't doing a great job since the lightbulb was burnt out in the fixture above my bed all week.

The best experience was with bell service. I needed to store luggage on my last day. I called them and someone was there in 5 minutes. I was seriously impressed!
