I know there are three entrances to Galaxy's Edge but which is best for Rise at rope drop? I know one goes by Thunder Mountain but then what?
I still have WDW in my head so I've become fuzzy about where everything is in DL

🤔
.

Layout of Galaxy's Edge is essentially the same as at WDW.

Since ROTR is on the far "left" side of Batuu when you're walking toward it, going through New Orleans Square and Critter Country feels like the fastest route to me. The Thunder Mountain route is probably faster to get to Smuggler's Run.

At rope drop, you should head for the "middle" entrance to Galaxy's Edge (via Frontierland past Big Thunder Mountain). I thought the left entrance would be best (since that leads to the "Resistance" side of Batuu, and it's the fastest way there at any time other than rope drop), but the line for RotR at park opening forms off toward the right of the entrance to the attraction, so if you want to join it quickly and not have walk past a bunch of people in the opposite direction, you want to be approaching RotR from the right. Being on the left hand side of the hub near the entrance to Frontierland would be my recommendation.

Thanks. Good tip. I always thought going by Hungry Bear would be the fastest. But you have a point since the entry is closer to the middle. Then again, just thinking of the line scares me away from RotR every time. LOL.

Is there a particular spot along the rope to be? When I went to DCA years ago, leftmost spot along the rope got us onto RSR first in line. (Or maybe it was right. Just remember we were first because they walked the rope back a ways and as they did it angled so those on the one side ended up forming a single line.)

Rope drop is hard because if you know you will be really fast and are at the very front or like second row of people, go through the Adventureland rope and past critter country. That’s the shortest distance to the ride.

However, that will only be good if you are in the first like 50 people on the ride at most. And if your whole group is that fast. The line forms off towards the falcon, so If you walk equally fast the critter country way vs the Frontierland way but you are 45 seconds slower than the fastest people, you will have to walk down past the whole line spilling out of the queue towards the falcon and swing around the back of it while the Frontierland rope drop people are joining the line.

Probably a 15 minutes of waiting in line mistake at best, as much as 45 extra minutes of waiting if you have a slow person in your group and the line gets dragged all the way back towards the falcon.

So TL;DR: Are you gunning to be in the first few people? Go through Adventureland. Are you even a tiny bit back at rope drop? Go through Frontierland and follow the herd.

PS - anywhere on the rope is fine. It doesn’t really make a difference because of how long this walk is compared to RSR. And it’s a true free for all there’s no herding by CMs.

This is so true! Back in March, we rope-dropped RotR for our first day ever at Disneyland. Since it was our first time, we weren't exactly positive where we were going, even though we had looked at maps. We debated back and forth over which way was better while we were waiting for rope drop. We finally decided on Frontierland, but after we started moving my husband decided to go via Adventureland since it was less crowded so I had no choice but to follow! There were definitely less people via Adventureland and my husband is fast so he snagged a good spot in line and we followed up shortly after and at that point the line was just starting to form towards the Frontierland side, so we got lucky. We did the same thing 2 days later and that time we somehow ended up even further up in the line (not sure how because it seemed like there were so many people ahead of me!) but on that day they would not let you enter the actual queue unless your entire party was there so there were a few people standing off to the side waiting for their party and thankfully we met up with my husband right at that critical point so he didn't have to step aside.
