We left off at check in at Pop Century watching The Hussle.
Originally we had Hoop de Doo res. for that evening. However our flight time was changed to almost 3 hours later than original. I was so thankful about a week before our trip when I was able to get a different date for HDD. If we hadn't canceled we would have had to get our tickets and run to the bus stop for 7:15 res. Instead we got to take it easy and enjoy our new hotel.
This was taken another day but seems appropriate here since this is basically a Pop Century post.
As we made our way to our room it was pouring rain. And over planner me had forgot something. We did not pack panchos in our carry on. Just in the short walk to our room we were soaked. Florida rain is strange. It is not that uncomfortable. Not like Colorado rain. We were soaked but not in the least bit chilled. I remember looking over at DH. He had rain dripping from his nose and I could feel that I did as well. DD7 however did remember to pack her Hannah Montana umbrella.
cloud9: Proud Mother)
So we then checked out our room. Pretty much the same as ASMo last year. The girls loved that we were in the purple section. DD7 is of course listening to Hannah Montana on her MP3 player.
After checking out our room we waded back through the rain to go eat CS dinner in Classic Hall. Here's where Florida rain becomes uncomfortable, walking into AC room. We had to try the tie die cheesecake we'd heard so much about. It is very good and pretty too.
I'm not a big food picture taker. I do remember that I got some chinese vegetable dish and was very disappointed in that there were almost no vegies. Basically a bunch of MSG laden noodles.
As we were eating we saw the nice older couple we had visited with in the ME line. They had met up with the rest of their family and were coming to eat. They leaned over and greeted us like we were old friends. I love people like that.
hug: Warm fuzzy)
The girls made their first penny press for this trip. We bought two refillable mugs, two signing books and a penny press collector at the shop and enjoyed looking around.
I had requested the 50's section with a view of fireworks. I think most people wanting the firework view request building 2 but I requested building 3 (Lady and Tramp) building on the end where I could still see the fireworks but was a little closer to Classic Hall. PERFECT LOCATION. Thanks to my research here on the DIS.
I sent in a fax 4 days ahead with a picture and the area circled as well.
I got my exact request except one floor down. Instead of 4th floor we got 3rd and I was still very happy with it. We could see the top of Spaceship Earth and of course both Epcot and MK fireworks. And it had a beautiful lake view. Infact, I could see the reflection of the fireworks in the lake at night! I loved it.By now it was getting dark. It was so beautiful but our camera was not good enough to capture the beauty behind us.
The rain had stopped and we decided to take a nice leisurey walk around the resort. We saw plenty of wild life. Lots of ducks, no pics sorry. A few bunnies.
Faith was doing this thing where she didn't want to take a picture with anyone else. I was worried she was going to ruin all our family pictures for the trip but luckily she snapped out of it early on.
So, we went back to the room and got on our suits to take a little swim. Luckily I had requested and been granted a swim cast.
The girls and I LOVE swimming and live at the pool over the summer. DH on the other hand hates it. What planet is he from?
I thought I had a good excuse to get him in the water this time. You see, I have two broken arms and DD7 is an independent swimmer but DD4 will need some help ofcourse.
As we were walking we saw 3 different snails crossing the sidewalk outside of the ground level floors. We thought they should perhaps put up a sign that said, "SNAIL CROSSING"
The girls decided they both wanted life jackets and we discovered there were no towels by the pool like at ASMo. So, since the girls were in life jackets DH went back to our room to get towels while I stood around in the pool with the girls. It actually felt very good on my fractured elbow. My arm just rested gently in the water and it felt great to be out of the sling for a while.
Of course when DH returned with towels he realized he did not need to get in since the girls were in life jackets and he sat by the pool and took a couple pictures of us.
The girls had fun going under "the showers" (spraying flowers) and then we started hearing the fireworks from Epcot. I had no idea you could hear it that well at the Pop. That was our signal to hurry up to our room and catch the end of it, which we did. I took some video of this later in the trip that I'll try to get uploaded. I loved that the Epcot fireworks were at 9 every night. We made it our goal (if we weren't out) to be showered and ready for bed by 9 so we could watch the fireworks and then settle in for bed. Of course, it usually took until almost 10 before everyone was asleep. Still pretty good I think.
