Disney Restaurant Prices

Do the prices at Disney's restaurants seem outrageous to anyone else? I haven't paid a lot of attention over the last few years because we weren't visiting, but when looking at restaurants for our March trip there was definitely some sticker shock. We were thinking about La Hacienda and the four "house specialties" are between $42 and $68 (though the $68 is for two people). Those are (or used to be) signature restaurant prices. The least expensive entree there is $27. Maybe I'm just old . . .

You're not old, just reasonable. For years, I also thought Disney meals were expensive, but paid just the same for the experience. Recently visited DL and Vegas, and will never complain about Disney prices again.

Yeah when I see Carne Asada for $52 that's a big give me a freaking break Disney, I can get some really amazing Carne Asada for about $21 - it's not rocket science it's Carne Asada.

You are not wrong.
If you are looking for the cost equivalent to quality, it's just not there. I always chuckle a bit when anyone mentions "Disney" and "Fine Dining" in the same sentence. Unless they are talking about V&A or Chef's, then... just NO. There is nothing remotely "fine dining" about the products served in their restaurants, and especially not in the Theme Park restaurants.

Unfortunately, guests are a "captive audience" while at Disney, and like everything, as long as people are paying for it the prices will reflect that.
Sometimes, it's "justified" by the experience - characters, theming, etc... but I fully agree it's gotten out of hand.

Disney dining prices are high and have been for decade at least
it’s a theme park
get right down to it they’ve been high since theme parks opened 50+ years ago
but go to a sports arena sometime
disney does not corner the market on overpriced mediocre food

There’s no argument that Disney prices are high BUT I will say the portion sizes are large and service is generally very good. I get frustrated at the expensive burgers and beer but in my opinion some restaurants are for sure worth the price, homecomin’ and boathouse are a few that come to mind.

I have always thought the Disney prices were out of line for the quality and quantity of food. I am very conservation and not a foodie, so it has always been a sticker shock deal for me.

Yea. I live in the suburbs of NYC so the prices aren’t terrible. Although our food is mostly better here lol. But the drink prices aren’t expensive to me at all.
Yeah, Long Island here so the prices don’t shock me at all, but I have a hard time picturing the food at Disney touching the local cuisine in terms of quality. I kind of expect that everywhere outside of NY though (I went to Pennsylvania this past summer and made the mistake of ordering a Stromboli - it had deli style ham, jimmy dean style sausage and mustard in it. I was offended lol).

Long Island here as well. I can’t get pizza anywhere else than this area. Never the same. I thought the food at Satu’li Canteen was pretty good though and reasonably priced.

Are they high? They absolutely are!!! Do I like it? NO! Do I pay it, Yes. The way I try to get a "deal" is to buy gift cards with a cash back reward. My biggest cost saver is this: LIMIT MY SIT DOWN Dinners.
AS mush as I enjoy the restaurants, I limit my choices to only 2 or 3 for a weeks stay now.

Venues such as sports stadiums, other theme parks and movie theatres are also in a category with outrageous food prices.

A healthy mix of expensive dinners paired with less expensive quick service meals such as Capt. Cooks is KEY to surviving a Disney trip. I’d love to learn more about getting gift cards at a discount and other hacks.

Yes, they are high. I was there a couple of weeks ago and one meal for just me was almost $75 (including tip). Two meals were close to $50 for one person. The $75 meal included an app., refreshing adult beverage, entre, dessert and coffee so that wasn't that bad.

Prices have gone up quite a bit. If you can, order a couple aps and split them. Split a dessert. I find the meals too large anyway.

Yes, Disney meals are pricey for what you get. Clearly they realize that if you are at a park all day, you aren't going to leave just to have lunch off property. Disney hotels also tend to have pricey meals. Part of the reason we stay off site in the past is to eat elsewhere since most of the local restaurants offer more variety at a reasonable price. The value just isn't there anymore and the prices seem excessive.

Yes, I think all their prices for food are outrageous. Also I hear it's 6 dollars for a Mickey bar now? Wow. It isn't really about the prices to us, it's whether we get good food and service for the price. For Ex: Boathouse at DS has always had delicious food and great servers. We didn't mind paying what we did for that meal. Now it seems all disney's park and resort sit down meals have been cut back somehow.
However, I just went through McDonalds drive through with my daughter and ordered just 2 egg, bacon, cheese biscuits - no drinks or potatoes just the biscuits. The charge was $11.50 for those 2 biscuits! We told the girl that we didn't want the meals,, just the biscuits. She said that's what it costs and "McDonalds is expensive now". I couldn't believe they charged that much - that's 5.75 a biscuit with tax. That's crazy for McD's and we won't be back.
