I do like your attitude for helping and I feel the same. The only difference I have is I wish everyone here would have to same attitude towards their local park. Many are open and are hurting for business too.
Well I never visited local parks pre COVID so I’m not going to start now. Grew up on Long Island, went to Rye Playland once for a free event hosted by WPLJ radio station, never went to Six Flags Great Adventure, went to Hershey a couple of times, and went to Dutch Wonderland a few times when much younger. But Disney was always our go to. Now that we live in Tampa, Disney is our only go to (with the occasional UO thrown in as well). Busch Gardens doesn’t interest us, I won‘t go to SeaWorld for my own reasons. Disney is our end all, be all.

If you are allowed by your local governing body. In my state (NC) -- the local large amusement park (Carowinds) was never allowed to open and are closed until next year.

The one park that was open -- a very small family theme park in the mountains - Tweetsie Railroad, I made a special trip JUST to visit it. They only were running their steam train and Wild West Show (and charged a greatly reduce price), so it was a fun and cheap morning while doing other things in the mountains.

Unfortunately ..there must have been some miscommunication .. and the place was forced to close 6 days after it opened (the day after I was there) by the department of health (even though they were doing all the safety standards). Needless to say, the owners were frustrated. It was safe, it was fun and it was outdoors. No reason it couldn't have been open. With a whole season lost and probably thousands of dollars wasted to try and re-open safely (to only have to close after 6 days) .. it may struggle to open next year.

Isn't the Great Smoky Mountain Railway in Bryson, NC still running though? Talk about inconsistent.

That's the story of the year --- inconsistent.

Haven't checked .. but I think it comes down to how it is categorized. The Railway in Bryson is probably considered "transportation" rather than an amusement to the government, so that is allowed (and probably why Tweetsie thought they could open). Tweetise is probably categorized as an "Outdoor amusement park" which was not allowed here in this state.. UNTIL TODAY!

NC is moving to what our state calls Phase 3 .. Amusements parks can open at 30% capacity (same with bars and movie theatres).

So Tweetsie will probably have their Christmas event, but probably too late to be open for their Ghost Train event. Carowinds isn't going to open .. too little too late.

Not sure about that part ... I think the lifting of restrictions in Florida is making people less likely to travel to Florida. I know if I had a trip scheduled in the next couple of weeks I would likely cancel - beyond that I would wait and see how things develop
How right you are! My sister, my niece and myself were going to drive down from Minnesota 1rst week of November. My sister and niece were in the process of moving to Florida and we were going to go to Disney for a week once we got them into the new place. Everything is on hold. Here in Minnesota, things have been pretty good as far as people wearing mask and social distancing. We have learned to go to work, and be happy getting groceries in the evening when things quiet down and just mostly being happy staying home and enjoying our quiet walking paths and parks. Most of the schools seem to be hybrid, 2 days in person and 3 at home (distance learning) but if those covid 19 numbers per day In comparison to those tested each day go up, we will see those schools ready to move quickly into full time distance learning. The schools are perched and ready almost like a bucking bronco coming out of a gate! I told my sister the day the Florida governor opened the restaurants and said masks weren’t necessary that I couldn’t let her and my niece move. See my sister lost her son in January. It was unexpected and he was 19. That plus covid 19 plus our”peaceful protesting” here in Minnesota as well as the fact that my sister hates Winter, has made my sister so desperate for the warmer climate. My sister also had her leg amputated just below the knee 4 years ago. I guess it’s not so much that I told her they can’t go; I’m just trying to be the voice of reason. Maybe Disney will be ready for us and we will be ready for Disney in 2022. The trip was going to be fairly expensive as I was paying for the resort by myself but u know I don’t have a problem putting that towards Christmas and a partial kitchen makeover. Our family has been through so much this year; I don’t need my sister to get sick in Florida and die from Covid 19. And u see where most people seem not to fear getting covid 19 or maybe they are a little ignorant to the fact that even healthy people die from it, 2020 has shown our family that u should never say never.

I'm surprised you agree. The poster you quote has breezily dismissed all current events up to and including declaring that it's unlikely anyone at WDW would be positive.

I was just agreeing with helping support Disney that's all. I don't agree that's its unlikely anyone tested positive. We will never know as contact tracing isn't happening.

With the layoff Bob, the signals that POFQ will be having an extended closure.

The Poly entertainers being laid off is not a surprise since it will be closed until next year.

The GF band is a disappointment. Not sure what that pertains to reopening the resort. However, them reopening some more restaurants is a good sign. However I don't expect Citrico's opening any time soon, as it was already slated to be closed for a renovation and reopening under a different concept.

Yep, no one is safe really.
For sure. A lot of Imagineering was already running an incredibly tight ship following furloughs. It sounds to me like nearly all of the furloughed Imagineers are gone. Things will be tough there for quite a while.

Things will be accorss the board for a while. Bottom line is disney is losing money right now and a lot of it as we know. They are trying to get some back by reopening things but honestly at this point any employee that isn't essential to the business running is at risk. If you are in an "overhead" position like imagineering or you are a "nice to have but not required" like the entertainment at GF, PO, and even world showcase you are at risk right now. For the next little while everything is going to be a skeleton crew. It sucks... it really does..

I agree that things like the bands at GF and Bob and the world showcase entertainment add a ton to WDW but they can run without them and so those are always going to be the first cuts.
