EXCLUSIVE: Although her upcoming breakout role as Maria in Steven Spielberg’s new retelling of West Side Story doesn’t bow until December, Rachel Zegler already appears to have found her next big role. Sources tell Deadline that Zegler is set to star as Snow White in Disney’s live-action adaptation of the film that started it all for the studio’s legendary slate of animated features. Marc Webb will direct, with Marc Platt producing. Production is expected to start in 2022.
“Rachel’s extraordinary vocal abilities are just the beginning of her gifts,” Webb said. “Her strength, intelligence and optimism will become an integral part of rediscovering the joy in this classic Disney fairytale.”
The original Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs cartoon, based on the Brothers Grimm fairytale, was released in 1938. It was Disney’s inaugural animated feature and became a massive success for the studio. Insiders say the live-action film will expand upon the story and music from the original. Benj Pasek and Justin Paul, the Oscar- and Tony-winning duo behind La La Land, The Greatest Showman and Dear Evan Hansen, will write new songs for the movie. A big reason the studio has taken its time on this adaptation is making sure it get the music right, and insiders add that higher-ups are excited with what Pasek and Paul have come up with following early returns.
As for the casting process, Webb and studio execs had been meeting with talent for several months for the role of Snow White. Zegler’s auditions impressed everyone, insiders say, but another factor was footage from West Side Story that blew away the Disney studio brass who’ve seen it, and helped push the decision across the finish line.
The casting also marks a step in the right direction of Disney diversifying its Disney Princess characters, after tapping Halle Bailey to play Ariel in the upcoming live-action The Little Mermaid movie.
Zegler is no stranger to big auditions as she already went through it on West Side Story, when as a 17-year-old high schooler she beat out more than 30,000 actresses for the lead role of Maria. The new adaptation will bow December 10 and also stars Ansel Elgort and Rita Moreno.
On top of that, she also found her first big comic-book movie prior to her big break, joining Zachary Levi in D.C.’s Shazam! Fury of the Gods.

Zegler is repped by ICM Partners.

I was just trying to get these posts removed along with mine since this subject without verification is heavy on the political side..:)
And do not belong here on this new and improved thread..:):):)

Yay... another live action remake...😒

Yeah, I'm not the biggest fan of them either, unless they try to do something very different with the story. The thing is, the straight remakes make tons of money, and when they've tried to be more original with it, like say Dumbo, they haven't done as well. The fact is Disney is only making what the audience wants - I can't blame them!

We have a huge range but for sales guys (which is hard to hire for right now) 100k base with a commission of about 60k if you hit quota
Depending on where you live, that's a nice base. I never took a commission-based job, though. I don't like that many variables in my life. Possibly, with what happened last year, more people are thinking as I think. And they want something more solid.

If you already did it right, there is no point in redoing it... it's just a senseless money grab in my opinion. If you like it, then by all means see, no judgement here. The world is full of film preferences, and mine tend to sway away from live action remakes of classic films, and extended, extended, extended superhero universes.

So, why did Disney remake all the stories into movies in the first place? They were done right in print years before. They just brought them to a new generation which is what they are doing again.

Well, there is a point to redoing it - to make money! The fact is, these remakes strike a chord with audiences and rake in billions of dollars. Yeah, for me, I would never watch the live-action Beauty and the Beast over the animated one - the original is an absolute masterpeice after all. Still, people went to see it in droves, so why wouldn't Disney continue to make them?

Sorry, one last item on mobile orders. If you are wanting food quicker you can always place the order for the time period that is open and then go in and try to change (like refreshing and moving up times with fast pass in the old days). We did this on our trip a couple weeks ago as we ordered from three different quick serves to make everyone happy. Woodys was half an hour later than the rest. I placed the order though, went in to adjust time, and on my first attempt, there was a time frame half an hour earlier.

That’s a great tip! Thank you!

Wow, you are getting really defensive about my opinion...weird. There is a big difference between remaking a movie, and adapting a book to a new format.

As a already said. To each their own. If people like it, then by all means go see it.
