“I’m So Blessed To Be Buzz Lightyear”: Tim Allen Gives Toy-Tastic ‘Toy Story 5’ Update [Exclusive]
by Marisa Williams
12/27/24

Longtime Pixar fans remember the absolute smash hit that is 1995's Toy Story. The film brought together titans of the 90s and put them in a recording booth instead of in front of the camera. Among those are Tom Hanks (Forrest Gump), Tim Allen (The Santa Clause), and John Ratzenberger (Cheers), all voicing toys. The concept of what toys do when kids aren't playing with them captured audiences globally. Toy Story has gone on to have 3 sequels with a fourth slated to hit theaters in 2026. Collider's Christina Radish sat down with Buzz Lightyear himself, Tim Allen, ahead of the premiere of his new sitcom Shifting Gears. With the 2026 release date in mind, she asked Allen if he'd stepped back into the recording booth.

"Well, I don’t know what I’m supposed to say. Yes, I just did the first five-hour session for Buzz, probably a week ago," Allen says. "It’s really, really weird to get back in it. I can’t tell you anything." Allen has returned time and again to voice Buzz Lightyear in all the Toy Story movies. His character (multiples of Buzz Lightyear actually) will be the focus of the upcoming sequel, so naturally, Allen has nothing short of praise for the upcoming sequel.

"It’s a very, very clever story. Do you wanna do five of these? I don’t really believe it’s about the money. I’m sure they want it to be a success, but that’s not why they did it. Had they not come up with a brilliant script, they wouldn’t have done it and they wouldn’t have called me and Tom [Hanks]. It’s really clever. It was really a struggle to get, and then maybe two hours in, I was doing Buzz. I’m so blessed to be Buzz Lightyear, to be honest. It’s gonna be fun. I think we’re a year out. I’ve gotten up to the third act. We’ll do the third act. And then, we’ll go back and clean it. And then, I’ll do it about five more times. It’s a really good story, guys. It’s really good."

This is definitely the week I'd expect it to sell out. It's already the priciest week

I think this is just the start.

I sense WDW will put out many more perks/discounts/etc. in 2025 to counter the massive wave that's coming called Epic Universe.
I’m actually surprised. The parks have been so consistently busy, even the usual “slower times” of January this past year. As excited as I am for EU, it’s not an either or for me, I will just commute from my DVC resort to a day or two at EU instead of having down days at the resort.

I understand as a Pixie Dust AP holder that expires next month.

What I typically do is play flip-flop between UO and WDW with my AP purchases. Since nothing really appeals to me in 2025 at WDW, I will let it expire and go to EU. I am still waiting for the single/multiple/AP (not tethered to a resort stay) Florida resident discount rates and availability.

Didn't they have a free dining offer last year as well? You got a dining card. I'm not sure this is really about EU

Not really my price range, but the photos don't do anything for me even if the buy in was 1/4 the price.

Me neither! Actually looks like a "before" photo prior to renovations.

I'm not from that part of the country, but to me, that type of architecture reminds me of the houses you'd see in dystopian movies set in the future, like a toned down brutalist. Doesn't seem warm and inviting, but then again the thought of living next to a bunch of fellow Disney lovers and hanging out in a weirdly 1950's clubhouse with them seems like a cultish nightmare movie as well.

Yeah for real, what in the Brady Bunch is that interior design? Are those the terrazzo floors from the multi-purpose room at my church when I was a kid? The outside looks like what people thought was modern design back in like 2002 and the inside looks like the 60's. No clue who the target demo is for this. I don't know how they can hit it out of the park so well with Golden Oak and then put this out.

But we still do not know how many are available.
Could be 100 per park; could be less. Time will tell.

With how their last housing project ended up after passing it off to a management company I wouldn't buy anything within a few miles of that place.
