Disney News, Discussion & an Element of Fun - 2024 Edition

Same! Just finished 4 days at Tokyo Disney.

I'm encouraged by the fact that WDI is exploring how to keep the Vision 3D film for future fans to enjoy. If they find a new spot for it and it takes a few years, the closure will also give it a temporary popularity boost upon reopening.
Hey me too! I probably passed by you in the parks lol

I do like that too. It would be a shame for the last project Jim Henson personally worked on to go away permanently. I will say that if the Rock N Roller Coaster retheme sucks, I may never visit HS ever again. I'm having less and less reasons to bother going there.

Cool! How did you like Tokyo Disney? Planning to go next year

I have been. @Smugpugmug isn't kidding - it could totally ruin the US parks for you! Tokyo DisneySea is the greatest, and I went like 10 years ago before they added so much. It's all a top-notch experience, and the guests are more polite too.

I agree generally but I did have a rude experience that still leaves a bad taste in my mouth. I was riding the Peter Pan ride in FS solo (which was actually my favorite out of the bunch weirdly enough?) and I was assigned to sit in the 1st row with a group of late teens girls. One of the girls was sitting in my spot and didn't move. I politely said 'excuse me' in Japanese and she looked at me and didn't move. A cast member had to come over and ask her to move and she did, but then she immediately started talking to her friends while glaring at me. Yup, I know you're talking about me. 🙄

I've had that happen before while doing Test Track single rider but didn't expect it at Disneysea of all places.

That would be unexpected in Japan. In my experience, people were polite to the point of defference. Well, it's a country of 124 Million people, so I guess there's bound to be one or two jerks. 🤣

I felt like the CMs were super nice, difference is a good word there. But the guests were not necessarily super nice. Just average folks in my experience, except for the orderly behavior like queuing up for everything. Sorry the teen girls were rude to you, there are rude people everywhere...

Peter Pan was our least favorite of the Fantasy Springs rides, but DH did say that "if you have to do a screen-heavy ride, this is a good way to do it." Our favorite was Frozen by far. Rapunzel's lantern festival is good but a bit short.

Tokyo DisneySea is beautiful and really unique, I loved it as well. But I liked Tokyo Disneyland a lot also, mostly because they have great entertainment: The Diamond Horseshoe dinner show and Mickey's Magical Music World are both top notch. They are also currently running three different parades and all are very good. And the new nighttime spectacular, Reach for the Stars, was pretty good, too (though doesn't beat Happily Ever after). I wish we had more shows like what they do at DLP and TDR in the US parks.

Three parades in one park - WDW is lucky to get one! 😄

People sitting down for parades is going to forever ruin WDW and DL for you.
Still have our leisure mats🤣

I think some people all over the world are getting tired of tourists. Plus, teenagers everywhere can still be rude and entitled.

Japan is amazing! Still feel like the whole trip was a dream.

This stuff going away who knows when is exactly why I booked a trip during Xmas the day after the expo while riding Mater’s at DCA. Everyone kept saying it would be fine, these things aren’t closing, you will have plenty of time. I wasn’t willing to risk it. Saying goodbye to some of these is definitely going to be a multiple Kleenex day😭

That’s funny because Peter Pan was our family’s favorite. I went in with low expectations but I loved it. Tangled was way too short

It's fun for sure, and one of the best rides in the park, but Frozen was our favorite.

Unexpectedly, we loved Sinbad's Storybook. Had to do it again in the nick of time before park closing on the last day.

Henson Co statement, noting the importance of MuppetVision and …. implies it will have a new life?!?!

In a way it’s what Jim would’ve wanted. Jim would’ve been mad to see it still the same as he left it after 30+ years. He would want it to have been updated, had things added or changed to it, but kept the spirit of the Muppets with it. Hopefully the Jim Henson Company and Disney can find a way to make that happen in the next few years while the Villains Show is running.

It’s sad that the Muppets are leaving the Courtyard, but maybe they’re just moving down the street to bring something new for all generations to enjoy.

That and now Disney can do what they’re doing with Cosmic Rewind on RnRC and provide different ride experiences because they have ownership of the IP they’re using for it.
