Disney News, Discussion & an Element of Fun - 2024 Edition

I want to give this place a shot on my next visit!
We were there just over a week ago. We got the lemon and the red velvet cookies. They are huge. My tastebuds are salt-sensitive, and I thought they were a little salty. Once we refrigerated them the saltiness seemed to diminish. I just finished the last of the red velvet cookie at lunch today.

We got four different cookies from Summerhouse a few weeks ago. (I did a mini review on here somewhere.) My take was that they were very salty, and I'm not salt sensitive at all. It was a one and done for us.

I read your review, which I kept in the back of my mind while we stood at the counter. My husband really wanted to try them. I think eating them chilled helped me with the saltiness. I could only manage a small bite of the lemon when it was room temperature.

Adding another role that Pedro Pascal has to juggle on his plate. Not complaining as I loved him as Joel in HBO's adaptation of The Last of Us.

The Last of Us is one of the best TV shows I have ever seen, it blew me away. And I've never played, nor had I ever heard of the video game before watching the series.

That being said, it ripped my heart out on a weekly basis, and I don't think I'll ever rewatch it.

I've played both games and all I have to say is....good luck during season 2. Unless the story is drastically changed but I doubt it.

Same. And figured Nico Parker (also Dumbo) was on the rise. How to Train your Dragon live action could be really good, and timed well with Epic Universe. Jay Baruchel should be perfect as well.

That game…get ready for Abby is all I’m sayin’.

I'm probably way in the minority, but by the end of Pt 2, I was team Abby all the way! In the end though, the show and game all come down to people living and dealing with the consequences of their actions ... all shades of gray

I've read rumors that Pt 2 may span 2 or more seasons of the show, and they will probably change up the sequencing to make the story more linear ... which makes sense for those that have played the game.

... apologies for potentially derailing the thread,

America First Legal Files Federal Civil Rights Complaint Against Disney for Discrimination

https://wdwnt.com/2024/02/america-first-legal-civil-rights-disney/
WDW News Today

The complaint focuses on Disney’s “Reimagine Tomorrow” diversity initiative, which AFL claims “strongly suggests that race, color, religion, sex, or national origin are often the only motivating factor in Disney’s hiring, training, and promotion decisions,” and that Disney is “intentionally discriminating against white American men, Christians, and Jews simply because of their race, sex, religion, and citizenship.”

The full list of Disney General Entertainment Content Inclusion Standards

The press release calls out Disney’s General Entertainment Content Inclusion Standards, which explains that 50 percent or more of on-screen representation, creative leadership, and below-the-line employees must be filled by members of underrepresented groups, with opportunities for industry access and career development also available for those individuals.

Elon Musk recently took to X to call these standards “mandatory racism and sexism.”

AFL claims that Disney’s self-reported workplace demographic data “shows that it is aggressively engaged in illegal race- and sex-based workforce balancing.” The nonprofit also makes mention of Disney’s “illegal” grant program which provides $25,000 to “underrepresented directors,” specifically to “women, AAPI, Black, Indigenous/Native, Latinx, LGBTQIA+, disability-identifying, and religiously marginalized individuals.”

Disney appears to be engaged in pervasive, far-reaching, and illegal race and sex discrimination in violation of the 1964 Civil Rights Act. Accordingly, we have filed a formal complaint with the EEOC [Equal Employment Opportunity Commission] that Disney is enaged in illegal conduct. It is sad and tragic that a company whose name was once synonymous with wholesome and charming childhood fantasies is now dedicated to spreading divisve bigotry. We urge Disney to cease and desist its unlawful and destructive conduct at once.

This is such a dumb lawsuit.

Looking at the census bureau we have the U.S.: 59% is considered white and 50/50 on male/female.

The lawsuit lists Disney's FY 2022 representation as 51/49 female to male and 47% white.

However, executives are 70% white and managers are 66% white with executives and managers at 55% males. While these are down from FY 2021, it is still very much leaning white male in leadership roles.

I played both games and watched the show and there were definitely a bunch of differences however to me it didn't take away from the story...except I don't think they concentrated enough on Fedra (who is basically your enemy the entire game- aside from the Infected).
The Frank and Bill backstory was one of the best hours of television I have watched. Nick Offerman..wow.
My only complaint is I thought they could have stretched out some things such as when you meet the Cannibals..and I wanted more Clickers and Bloaters!
Looking forward to Season 2! I agree that Abby is a pretty complicated "bad guy" and I hope we get to see more of her back story like they did in the game.
