Disney Cruises

DH is 60. I am 57. We are about to take DCL cruise #15. We just started sailing in 2017. Never took our kids when they were young. We do take them on the occasional DCL cruise with us now - as young adults. They enjoy it, but not like we do.

We do very little on a DCL cruise. We enjoy deck 13 and walking on deck 4. My husband goes to the gym everyday. We enjoy a cocktail and hearing some live music before dinner. We cruise to relax.

We mainly sail on the fantasy - our next cruise in December will be #12 on the fantasy.

I’m 60 and my wife is 56. We never had kids, but fell in love with DCL on our first cruise with them in 2016. We’re up to 41 now, with more to come 😊
We’ve tried other cruise lines (Carnival, Royal, Princess, Celebrity) but didn’t like any of them. We’re also DVC members, and still enjoy our visits, but have found ourselves prioritizing the resort and non-park aspects of our stays, as well as spending time with friends and family who live in the Orlando area.

DW and I are 74. We've done DCL, Royal, Carnival, HAL, Norwegian, Oceania and currently sail exclusively MSC Yacht Club. We find it's hard to beat their *All-Inclusive Luxury* directive.

We have cruised 7 DCL cruises with our children, then grown up "adults", family, friends and one us two alone. We loved our DCL cruises - with or without children. Plenty of adult areas to hang around in.

We had one booked for June 2020 with Princess to Alaska (with Denali/cruisetour) but we all know what happened then (COVID).

Love cruises. You can do as much as you want, or as little as you want. My two sons are thinking of cruising again in 2026 with one other set of parents (doubt my dd will make it). It has been a while for all of us. I will see how it will work out for me since I am "alone" now. Perhaps I will have my granddaughter in my cabin.....paying adult price :(.

We also always reserved early dining. Early risers, coming from the East Coast, dinner at home 6pm and just could not eat late. At first the kids were a little younger - even though they could stay up later than us - but as we got older, a big meal so late just did not sit well.......

My husband and I have been on 17 Disney cruises with #18 on the Treasure scheduled for early next year. I am 62, and he is almost 57. We don't have children, but we do love DCL and are DVC members.

We love the ships, even though we found ourselves confounded by the layout of the Wish. We have been on all five of the current in service ships. While I would love to sail on the Adventure, it's not high on my list of things to do.

I enjoy the service, shows, activities, and overall atmosphere. We don't normally do character meet & greets, but we did when MDAS first rolled out. Only one time did we feel pressure from our server to provide excellent ratings on the survey.

What about everyone else?
We are in the same boat. :sail:

We've also been on all 5 current ships and will be on the Treasure in January. We enjoy all the Disney touches when we sail. But we aren't big on character meet and greets. We also aren't fans of intrusive Main Dining Room shows. We've studiously avoided Pirate Night in the MDR for many years now, preferring to hit Palo that night.

I am 75 and we did our first cruise last year. We did an Alaska cruise on the Disney Wonder. It was a great experience. We are now looking at doing another cruise for our 50th anniversary next year.

My wife and I are late bloomers when it comes to cruises. However we did our first cruise back in the late 80's with Carnival when we were in our mid 20's and just felt it was just ok. We did not do our next cruise until 2019 when we were on the Fantasy for an Western Caribbean cruise and loved it. We booked an Alaska cruise with DCL in June 2020 and we all know what happened then. We had another booked in Feb 2022 with DCL, but we were not going to jump through all the protocol hoops and cancelled. Then did another Disney cruise in December 2022 on the Dream, loved it. Did the Wish in December 2023 and enjoyed it but was neutral on the ship. This past April we returned to the Fantasy and did the Eastern Caribbean, took my DD and her fiance, had a 1-bedroom suite and had a fantastic time.

I do also like to get away sometimes on a smaller ship, with under 800 people, unbelievable cuisine, and enjoy a relaxing cruise. Our go to when not on Disney is Regent Seven Seas. The guests are typically, well... Older like me. LOL. It certainly is a whole different experience than DCL, but I do enjoy that as well.

I took our 6 year old granddaughter on the Magic in March and, while we had an amazing time, I can’t see our going without our grandchildren along. We have never been cruisers though we do have one booked to Alaska with Holland America. While DCL was 100% worth it with our princessy, dress up loving, character mad granddaughter, I really couldn’t justify the Disney prices for us. Neither of us cares about characters and one of us would pay extra NOT to have to dress up or go to shows.

My spouse dislikes theme parks (a lot!) and has always preferred active outdoorsy vacations (think skiing, hiking, whitewater) but that’s really not something he can do now that he has mobility issues. I’m hoping an Alaskan cruise will be something he enjoys.

Why book the Treasure if you don't like the Wish.

DW and I are also do very little cruiser's and simply enjoy RELAXING on a ship that's *moving on the water.* Our needs are few BUT we are spoiled from our DVC 1 Bedroom OKW Day's and thus require Concierge Level when cruising. Since DCL does not provide the Concierge Level we like, we cruise another line that happens to be less expensive AND PROVIDES a more luxurious all inclusive experience. Fewer $$$$$'s per cruise = more cruises/year. :cool1:

Why book the Treasure if you don't like the Wish.

Just because - :thumbsup2:thumbsup2 Having sailed every ship (if the case) provides the check mark for a *done it*

To experience a new ship? Give it a chance to stand on its own?

As I read this I said to myself, "when did you write this?". Yes, it very much reflects me. Right down to the OKW love. And yes, we love concierge sailings.

We are Diamond+ on Royal and only sail them in a suite and never dine in their main dining rooms. Their concierge product is much better than DCL. But that doesn't stop me from sailing concierge on DCL (although sometimes the price does) especially on the Wish. Disney substantially upgraded the product on the Wish. I'll be on the Treasure in January and expect to enjoy that as well.

Let us what you think. I’m waiting for the reviews before I even consider it.

Our OKW love began with the simple Studio since we would maximize our points for numerous stays/year BUT as soon as we stayed in the 1 Bedroom, it was time to add points.

Sailing DCL Concierge simply does not provide a high enough return for investment. Last week I asked DW if we could sail April next year to fill the gap between Jan. and June sailings. Little did I know that the April 20th sailing I chose is Easter Sunday so there was only 1 cabin remaining on the starboard side-deck 16 which is our preferred side. I booked and then decided to check DCL prices and found that we are sailing Yacht Club for $3,552 with an Inside WISH sailing on the 21st at $4,466.

BTW the least of the WISH Concierge is $10,634 :scared1:

Which line has Yacht Club? I’m eager to try Concierge on a line that sails out of Galveston, because we live close enough to drive there on embarkation day.

MSC has Yacht Club as their Concierge Level. Other lines have their own Concierge Level(s) with some differences between the lines and even within the Ship having different Perks obtained. One must do a comparison between lines and also within that of the ship.

Thanks. I know one of the lines has Haven as their concierge level. But I’m looking forward to MSC coming to Galveston, I think next year sometime.

Norwegian has The Haven. DW and I were considering cruising Haven until we spoke to fellow cruisers who had done The Haven and were happier with Yacht Club.
