We have not been to the Animal Kingdom before but are planning to go there in December. We know that we want to ride Everest, Kali River Rapids, and see It's tough to be a Bug. What is the Dinosaur ride? What other WDW ride would you compare it to? What about the safarri ride?

Dinosaur is great. I'm a big ride wimp, as well as motion sickness sufferer. Word of warning: My hubby threw his back out on this ride! If you are prone to backache/stiff necks, you might want to re-consider. It's not what I would call a "thrill ride" at all like a roller coaster or TOT type thing. I'd compare it to the Haunted Mansion in a very bumpy Jeep with dinosaurs roaring at you. It's not coaster-ish in the least. Think "bumpy Jeep ride indoors."

Safari tour in AK is wonderful, too. It's outdoors in a big Jeep. You see real animals. Go first thing in the morning when the animals are most active.

Have a wonderful time :)

I can't compare Dinosaur for you because I've never been able to keep my eyes open. The ride itself is jerky, but mild as far as rides go. For some reason, though, the dinosaurs really freak me out!

My mum also injured her back on this ride.

There's nothing else in Disney you can compare it to but it's a fantastic ride. I can't remember the exact storyline but you're taken back in time to search for a certain dinosaur to take back with you for some reason... but the world is collapsing around you (meteors hitting etc) so you only have a certain time limit. Then you get attacked by a huge, noisy, dinosaur at the end.

I'm really not bigging it up that well am I? But it's a must see. Incredibly jerky, superfluously so at times. Even more so than the worst bits on Kilimanjaro Safaris!

But I'd definitely do it at least once!

The ride is very jerky and bumpy but it's a great ride. The seats are actually very comfortable so it's not too bad. I like the dinosaurs and special effects plus it's indoors with a/c so it's a great place to go to get out of the heat for a while. You should try it!

My family consists of 1 (DD) who LOVES any crazy, wild, turning, speeding, out-of-control roller coaster, 1 (DH) who goes on all of those rides with his darling daughter, a mom (me) who likes rides like Space Mtn, and Thunder Mountain Railroad, but can't take the "plunge" in Splash Mtn. or the twists Rockin Roller Coaster, and finally, 1 (DS) who hates the "feeling" from roller coasters and is very picky about his rides. That said: We all love both Dinosaur and the Safari. It makes all 4 of us very happy. We scream at times, laugh at times and are smiling when we get off of Dinosaur. Safari is just a "must". I highly recommend you ride them both!!!!

I agree, it's VERY bumpy, you do get jerked aound a lot. It is dark as well, and like most rides, very loud. I've posted before about my sons first ride- he freaked out. He was 7, his 5 year old brother thought it was no big deal. The first time was harrowing, due to teh screaming child, but subsequent rides have been fun. Always worth a go round.

Star Tours, and Body Wars is much worse in the 'bumpy' category. I find this to be a fast pace wild and enjoyable adventure. There is one frightening scene which is the equivalent to going down the big hill of a rollercoaster. If you like thrill rides, by all means don't chicken out of this, its one of the best!

If you don't mind bumpy, jerky rides I would highly recommend Dinosaur. Can't really think of another ride at Disney to compare it to. Also, for some reason my teenagers love Primeval Whirl which is also jerky. Not a high thrill ride but we always end up laughing on that one. Safari ride is great. Not sure what the weather will be like in December but if you go on Kali you might want to think about bringing a change of clothes...someone will get soaked all the way thru...never know who it is going to be. My daughter had a hard time keeping her jean skort up the rest of the day because it was so heavy with water. :) Also saw a lady in the bathroom standing in front of the hand dryer in her underwear trying to dry out!

Dinosaur is fun, but it scares me each and every time I ride it! :rotfl:

If you've ridden Indiana Jones at Disneyland, it's the same thing but with a different story/theming. In fact, it's the exact same track layout.

I have rode this a couple of times. Last Oct was my last :sad2: . It is very bumpy. I can ride star tours fine. This ride hurt my back pretty bad. I will never ride it again. I do like the ride and it is intence but did scare me. I wish I could ride it. The safari ride does not bother me either.

We love Dinosaur. If you want the best, wildest ride, ask to sit in the back. Wow, you really get thrown around and come up off the seat. It is very intense, but it's the whole story you need to take in consideration, not just the dinosaurs. Be sure and pay attention to the preshow and then listen to the audio through the ride. Don't get hung up on the fact that the dinos look and sound real. You're going back in time to bring an Iguanidon(sp) back with you before the earth is destroyed by meteors. When the vehicle stops and the big dino lights up on the right, that's where they take your picture. Once you know where it is, look up for the picture. We make fake scared faces when we get to that point. It's funny in the pictures at the end. Just have fun. Unlike Mission:Space, they don't give that many warnings about how intense it is, and they really should. I thought my 9 year old niece would like it, but it terrified her. I have heard CM's tell people with kids that it's not that scary. They really should tell people that it is very bumpy and intense.

Of course I shouldn't mind if poeple don't want to ride it, that just means shorter lines for us. :p

Dinosaur is a very herky, jerky ride. You bang along in the semi-dark and Dinosaurs roar at you. If you don't mind being jerked around (literally) it is worth doing.

On the safari ride, you ride in a truck around what looks like an African savannah. You see some animals - giraffes, beasty things. If you get very, very lucky a lion will stand up and sit down. It is worth doing once, I guess.

I wouldn't skip Expedition Everest for either.

:sad2: I got the worst bruise Ive ever had in my life on Dino. It was about the size of a baseball, and lasted a month :furious: Star Tours didnt bother me in the least. It was fun :thumbsup2

Dinosaur is a great ride. when we were at AK 2 years ago it was closed. I was crushed!!! And then last year my DH got sick and we didn't do AK at all. While you are in AK make sure you see the Festival of the Lion King. It is FABULOUS!!!

:cheer2: :cheer2: :cheer2:

I love this ride although it is VERY bumpy and the dinos do scare the crap out of me..lol
We brought our 4 yo on it last year and she was REALLY scared, it threw her around so bad. She sat in between my dh and i and we both had to hold on to her to keep her from getting knocked around. I do think they should have a warning for young children that it is very intense.
