Here is our door from the last cruise:

Are those maganets? They look like stickers! This may sound silly, but can someone please tell me how you make these maganets!

You can get the mickey icons in various colors at Home depot in the paint dept. ;) Then just cut out the mickey park (or pull it off the back cardboard is what I do- the lazy way LOL) and attach magnet on the back! :)

oh and btw this thread reminded me that YET AGAIN I forgot to take pictures of our door and FE's. What is wrong with me that I keep forgetting to do that? ugh :lmao:

If you go to DOOR SIGNS in the FAQ link below in my signature you will find a couple threads full of decorated doors and graphics to make your own signs. :)

You're not the only one!

I spent forever putting together a Mickey head wreath for our holiday cruise. It turned out super cute (if I do say so myself) and I had every intention of getting a picture of it on our door. But did I do it? Of course not.

I guess once I'm in cruise mode, I'm really in cruise mode. :rolleyes1

I'd love to see more pictures!

Is there a contest or anything for best decorated door? If not, there should be!

On our last cruise, our door area looked different everyday in some way or another. I had a different FE for each day, at least one special magnet that was specific to our island destination that day or activity (like sea days and Pirates IN the Caribbean Party), and I had a couple of different scrapbook pages through the week for people to sign as they were passing by or dropping of FE goodies. It was very fun, and several of our neighbors mentioned they enjoyed seeing what would be new each day. :)

Have a great time coming up with your decorations! It's a great way to help pass the time, too! ;)

Welcome to the DIS! Stick around, and you'll learn all kinds of wonderful tips and tricks!

Another option apart form sticking a magnet on top of or behind your graphic is to purchase various kinds of magnetic paper. Some kinds go through your printer and others have adhesive to apply your printed out graphic onto the magnetic sheet. You'll find these products online, in office-supply stores, or craft stores. Personally, I purchased mine at Michael's and Hobby Lobby, always using store coupons.

Yet one more suggestion and more economical option is to slip paper inside a page protector and put adhesive-backed magnets (usually found on a roll at the craft store) on the page protector. The key here, if you haven't noticed, is that you are not permitted to use adhesive ON the door itself.

From June 2008 West Coast cruise. I scanned photos of us from theme parks; and printed them on magnet paper; plus I made "Welcome to our Vacation" sign:

OK I have to ask, WHY do you decorate your door?

Several reasons why, but to list a few:

1. It's FUN!!
2. A Great way to spend some pre trip time with the kids
3. It makes it easier for kids to find the rooms (adults too after one margarita too many)
4. Because we can!

I guess that's the same thing I do- get into crusie mode and forget. Because I sure do keep forgetting- everytime. and it's not just the door and FE- there are many other times that LATER I think oh why didn't I capture that moment with a picture? I'm just not one to carry my camera around while on the ship I guess.... enjoying the moment too much to capture it on film. LOL

Thanks to all! The doors look GREAT!!! My kids are going to have a BLAST helping make them! There is so much great advise on this board! I am so glad I found it! Thanks again!

Wow...$6.99 is a good deal...I think we paid $12 something at Staples for 4 sheets. I'll have to check out our Hobby Lobby.
