In 1978 he and I stood on a street corner in downtown Atlanta conversing about the Loews Grand Theater (premiered Gone with the Wind) as it had just burned. I worked right behind it and had been trapped in by firetrucks the day it burned. We were watching the crane operator demolish. Mr. McCallum had a nice camera with him, he said he travels with it - he was in Atlanta for work - and thought he'd check out the theater, take some pictures. I also had big cameras but not with me that day. He was so friendly and easy to talk to - no fuss made at all about his stardom. I was 20 and had grown up watching Man from U.N.C.L.E. so I thought it was really cool to be talking about my work neighborhood and cameras/photography.
