David McCallum (Ducky from NCIS) dies

In 1978 he and I stood on a street corner in downtown Atlanta conversing about the Loews Grand Theater (premiered Gone with the Wind) as it had just burned. I worked right behind it and had been trapped in by firetrucks the day it burned. We were watching the crane operator demolish. Mr. McCallum had a nice camera with him, he said he travels with it - he was in Atlanta for work - and thought he'd check out the theater, take some pictures. I also had big cameras but not with me that day. He was so friendly and easy to talk to - no fuss made at all about his stardom. I was 20 and had grown up watching Man from U.N.C.L.E. so I thought it was really cool to be talking about my work neighborhood and cameras/photography.

Oh, wow! That's an amazing story.

David McCallum is now gone? I used to like Ducky a lot on NCIS because he was smart even though Ducky would somehow go in to space and daydream and when he talked he would say things like "Alas Mr. DiNozzo is not in the office" and the NCIS team would always say "Ducky pay attention". My mom used to like NCIS because of the cases and adventures and her favorite character was Ziva and she was also my favorite character too. I had no idea David McCallum was still around but did Ducky leave NCIS or was he one of the remaining original NCIS characters when most of the cast left between seasons? I do remember Abby because she always reminded me of a human version of Monster High's Draculaura whenever I would see her

Ducky was still on NCIS. Although it was a much smaller role, supporting role.

I was a big fan of "Uncle" as a kid. I've only gotten into NCIS over the past few years and loved seeing McCallum as "Ducky."

Well, he was also in an Outer Limits show (1963)

And, A Night to Remember (1958)

Shows of that era are always a hoot to watch. Lots of familiar faces. I worked with Claude Akins' son, and he said while he was growing up his dad was very lucky to be working almost every week in the 1960's Gunsmoke one week, Twilight Zone the next, Man From U.N.C.L.E. the next

I'm old. He is the Man From Uncle to my generation.
As a fellow "old" people, DH & I get a laugh evertime we see the 1st or 2nd season episode of NCIS when Kate wondered what Ducky looked when he was younger. Gibbs says IIya Kuryakin.
Always liked him, of course his being from Glasgow didn't hurt. My Maternal Grandparents were also from Glasgow. 😊

He’ll always be Ilya to me!

He was in a classic Outer Limits too!
