I have a question about timing. The plane is arriving at Gate 6 - far end of terminal. The connecting flight is departing at Gate 15, far end of terminal in other direction. How long will it take to get from Gate 6 to Gate 15 (walking fast)? Thanks.
Five minutes maybe. DAL is a very small airport. To put it into MCO context, how long does it take you to get from the gate to the APM, that's about how long it will take.
Agree with @EACarlson. Can probably do it in less.
The terminal is 1200' long (gate 1 to gate 19).
That's <1/4 mile.
A "normal" walking pace is going to be 15-20 minutes/mile. Even at the longer time (20 minutes), 1/4 would get you end to end at 5 minutes. "Walking fast", less than that. Gate 6 and Gate 15 aren't at the exact ends, so you'll save a few seconds there.
If you're concerned about a tight connecting time, some things to keep in mind...
* Arrival time for the first flight is when the plane parks at the gate. You need to add time to get off the plane. Where you're sitting on the plane and the size of the plane affects that. If you had to "gate check"/"pink tag" your carry on (where you drop it off on the jet bridge before getting on the plane and it's returned on the jet bridge), that could add some time.
* Boarding for your 2nd flight will start ~30 minutes (possibly earlier for larger planes) before the scheduled departure time.
