Costco Car Rental Ques!

I had a friend tell me about some great deals renting cars through Costco. Does anyone know if you have to show proff of membership when you pickup your car. Costco sends you off to the rental site when you book. (THey tell you that your leaving their site.) We are an online member, but we don't have an actual membership. Thanks for your help!

My friend just got back from Orlando yesterday. She used the Costco code and coupon and was not asked for any ID.

I have also rented a car using a Costco discount code and was not asked to show my Costco card at any time.

We just returned from Disney yesterday. We are Costco members but they never asked us for Costco ID. The agent never even looked at the printed out costco coupon and even handed the papers back to us.

"Officially" you need to be a Costco member, but "unofficially" we've used Costco.com and the coupons several times and have never been asked for an ID. In fact, we questioned the agent last time (we are Costco members BTW) and the agent told us that in all her years as an agent (over 10) there are so many codes she's never asked anyone for any type of ID when booked online.

If you contact Alamo or Costco.com they will be adamately (sp?) tell you it is for members only and you need to show ID upon rental pick-up, in the "real world" no one asks for anything. Go for it and don't worry

Just got back a few weeks ago and we didn't have to show our member card. We did get the best rate through costco too.

However, one thing the agent did say was because we had the costco deal, they needed address, phone number of BOTH drivers (my husband and myself). Not sure if that's true or not. Only the second time I rented a car but I don't remember ever being asked so many questions while I was picking up the car.

Can't remember but I think you get a free driver under a Costco booking. I'm guessing that is why.

Is the Costco price for rental cars better than BJs or Sam's Club?

I can only speak for Sam's...the Costco is way better! I think when I used the Sam's numbers it came up even more than using nothing.
