We did 1 night at coranado & it just seemed to large for a stroke survivor to navigate any tips?

First thing that comes to mind is: Use the internal bus system to get around *inside* the Resort.

It can be a bit of a learning curve, but we see that same type of system at other large Resorts at Disney (thinking here of Fort Wilderness, Port Orleans Riverside internal shuttle typically loops over to Port Orleans French Quarter also, and other larger Resorts have similar internal shuttle systems).

If you start looking, there are actually lots of internal shuttle systems at the Resort hotels at WDW!

You can also request a room that is closer to the main building, so that there is less travel to get to food services and/or bus stops. Call WDW’s main reservation number, and ask them to make a note on your reservation.

You can stay at a Resort hotel that has a single building - like Wilderness Lodge, Contemporary, Yacht Club, Beach Club, Swan or Dolphin.

You may need to consider adding a form of accommodation to your trip - many people use a scooter while at Disney World who never use a device like that at home. It’s because the average Guest at Disney World will walk between 3 & 10 miles *per day*, and most folks don’t walk that much at home.

You may also want to consider staying offsite - you could start by looking at some of the Disney Springs hotels for example. Flamingo Crossings has many hotels that have been built in the last few years, and have a smaller overall footprint.

Are you there now and need suggestions to get through this visit? If so, what hasn’t worked well?

As PP suggests, use the bus rather than trying to walk everywhere. Try to consolidate trips away from your room — such as plan to bring your pool stiff when you go to breakfast so you can head directly to the pool after eating.

Comparatively to doing the parks, the resorts are not much different to navigate and not as large. Do you use a mobility device for the park like renting an ECV? You could rent an ECV from off-site and you'd have for the resort and parks. Otherwise, staying in one of the more compact resorts could help - but it's still a lot of walking.

At Coronado I'd suggest staying in the tower so it's more of an elevator ride down to food and the bus stop vs. the rest of the resort. The Contemporary Resort tower rooms are an easy elevator ride down to get food, etc.
