Comparison of dessert parties?

Thinking about a dessert party...not sure which one. I've read some of the threads on specific dessert parties, but looking for a comparison for those that have attended different ones.

Which dessert party is your favorite?
Best food?
Best drinks?
Best bang for your buck?
Best overall experience?

We are going in November, so holiday parties are in the mix. Thanks for any input!

I have not done it but follow the threads/comments around here pretty closely for all of the dessert parties... around the holidays I'd be hard pressed not to give the JBJB Dessert Party a try.

We’ve only done the HEA and Frozen/Illuminations dessert parties.

Of the 2 we liked HEA much better. It could just be that we enjoy MK/HEA better than Illuminations though. There could be some bias. That, and space is very restricted at MK, not so much at EPCOT.

And I wholeheartedly agree with @GADisneyDad14, if we get back during the Christmas season and it’s available, we will definitely hit up the JBJB dessert party.

We've done SW party twice and really like it. The whole vibe is really cool and the food and drinks are great. I miss the old viewing area and the Jawas, but it's still good.

We did HEA once and it was just "ok". The food wasn't as good as SW, no adult beverages or ambiance. The plaza viewing area is very good but it rained heavily the whole we were there so it was near impossible to see the castle projections through the rain and smoke from the pyrotechnics. If it had been our first time watching HEA I would have been very upset after spending so much on the party. We have seen it several times prior so we made the best of it.

I'm interested in the ROL party after reading the reviews. We do like ROL. Ill keep watching reviews and reports before deciding if it's a good fit for us.

We are looking at the FEA one for next month. I don't particularly like the ride itself, but we do like dessert parties in general and Illuminations.

The Fantasmic dessert experience (not even considered a party) is not on my radar at all. I'm not a Fantasmic fan and they only give you a goodie box of desserts and a beverage to take to your seat for the show. It is much cheaper though.

We usually visit in Spring and Fall so we miss the holiday party but I would probably be interested in JBJB. We've never looked into it.

This our first MNSSHP so we are not doing the Hallowishes dessert party. Paying for the party ticket plus the dessert party seems a lot, especially considering you're missing some of the MNSSHP party time (the special event that you paid for) to attend the dessert party. A party within a party? Only Disney would do it!

We don't feel any desert party is really worth it. I'd spend the extra cash on a event or a show like hoop Dee doo. My opinion

Epcot’s one was great. The view of illuminations is amazing and the best I’ve seen. You feel real VIP being escorted to and from the section. Lol. Not a fan of the wedding style seating though. Frozen was cool just walking on. Food was alright. This was based on being inside and not outside

HEA has better food and better seating options. Nice view of the fireworks. Not as loud though as closer to the castle when watching.

I’d do both again. But I liked Illuminations party better though simply for getting escorted 5 mins before fireworks even began. Mind you we were sitting inside and not outside due to slight rain.

Best bang though is for HEA just for not being in the insane hustle and bustle of watching the fireworks around the park.

This.

The first MK dessert party my wife and I went to was $24.95 each. The desserts have gotten pretty standard, not to mention you can’t even get a Coke to drink, while the price has doubled to almost tripled for some parties. Save your money, buy your own goodies around the parks. They just aren’t worth it.

Agree regarding the viewing area.

Actually the Jawas were never part of the party, they were part of the Launch Bay's character experiences and could be met during the day. I'm not sure the Stormtroopers would even make an appearance at the party if they didn't have to walk through in order to get to their barracks backstage.

What do they typically offer to drink? I keep thinking that we should try one but sometimes the offerings don't sound that great for some of them.

We recently went to all 3 in July and have also been to the terrace dessert party at Magic Kingdom.
I couldn’t help but compare then all at the end.
We have a family member who suffers from anxiety and has some issues with crowds.
So we always plan things with that in mind. Such as avoiding parks in the middle of the day to give them some down time to recharge. Staying close to the parks so they can escape back to the room if needed. Having adr’s booked so they can have a calmer place to eat. Doing the H2O glow and Disney after Hours to reduce the crowds.

In regards to escaping crowds Star Wars party followed by Magic Kingdom and then frozen. I put Stars Wars party first as the way the crowd lines up for this show is a lot more stressful than magic Kingdom.

Food we noticed a definite difference between the quality of frozen and Star Wars parties compared to Magic kingdom.
Splitting the frozen and Star Wars was a little harder.
Personally I preferred the frozen party I enjoyed the food the variety, freshness and quality. At the frozen party the fresh fruit was filled with berries not just a few token small strawberries. I loved the cheese fondue.
The food at Magic Kingdom was last it was just bulk buffet desserts.
We are not big into alcohol so I only tried the cocktails at the frozen dessert party and did enjoy the ones we had.
I found it annoying that there were no soft drinks offered at Magic Kingdom.
The problem was Magic Kingdom was last on my list for everything but I preferred the show at Magic Kingdom. So for our family to watch the fireworks that I love at Magic Kingdom I just have to accept the dessert party as waiting in with the crowds in not an option for us.

We've done them all except for Frozen (which we're trying next month) and the new ROL party. Our favorite would be Star Wars (but I, too, miss the Jawas interacting with party guests and posing for photos). We've done it multiple times and the food and drinks are top notch. Next would be HEA, just because of the value of not being in the people crush (though the food isn't great). And our least favorite would be JBJM -- didn't like the food and really, really didn't like the show. We'd never do that one again.

As I said above, we're doing Frozen next month, as well as HEA. HEA is really just a way to avoid crowds and enjoy the fireworks on a night during party season when we know it's going to be wall-to-wall people.

Hmmmm...lots of good info! Thanks for your responses! I was kind of leaning toward JBJB...I read good things about the food and drinks...seems like great ambience, but not sure the show would be a favorite. We're not a family that lines up early for the fireworks or shows so that part really isn't a huge benefit for us. It's more just the fun of the dessert party itself and the special seating/standing areas are just a bonus for us. Also Star Wars isn't an option while we are there, so that one's out. I like the Christmas festiveness to the JBJB. Just not sure!

Might have already been mentioned above - and I'm not sure exactly when they start it or if coincides with your November trip - but the Peace on Earth holiday tag they add to Illuminations during the holidays is pretty freakin' awesome. I personally think the FEA/Illuminations dessert party is really good (good location, viewing, after-show ride, alcohol, good eats).... add the holiday tag to the show - mega bonus.

MK offers ice water, tea (hot & cold), lemonade, and coffee. Maybe milk, too? Not sure about that.
