I’m UK based. I had 2 choices, either U.S. embassy or an ‘acceptance agent’. Agent was much easier and was able to do everything online. These are specific firms authorised by the IRS to deal with the ITIN forms. Hopefully you have an equivalent in Canada.

It’s a PITA, but once you have the ITIN you are set for when you come to sell I suppose!

Yes we do - and they are quite insistent I don’t need or qualify for an ITIN…

I’ve looped in the title company, fidelity and the FIRPTA agents in hope they can actually resolve the confusion. Since a US embassy is bordering on a non starter.

Still waiting on points and have been denied via chat on 2/10 and 2/11 and via phone 2/12. Each time I was put on hold by MS (whom I assume was contacting MA) and then told “paperwork to load points has been submitted…please check back later today…if still no points, check in a couple business days.” So basically, go kick rocks you’ll get your points when we load them lol. I’m a little stressed because our contract includes 61 points in holding expiring 3/31 and there’s almost no availability on dates we can travel next month. A little bummed MA hasn’t been willing to help when they’ve done so for so many others in the past.

I’ve never had any issue in the past but my latest contract MS were very reluctant to help, until I told them that I only had a few days left until my banking deadline. Definitely a change in willingness to assist with this.

My experience (based on WDW and Aulani purchases) is that they both follow near enough the same timeline. Aulani may take slightly longer as the buyer needs to have the documents notarised.

Speed of closing mostly depends on which title company you use.

I was successful in getting points loaded on my third attempt. Called MS on 2/13. They seemed helpful but couldn’t load. Probably my fault for not waiting 24 hours. Chat on 2/14 not very helpful … “submitted report”. Call to MS on 2/15 able to load points in about 20 minutes.

POINTS ADDED TODAY! Maybe a few people were out sick or on vacation last week as I see @BLT_RIV2025 got points added Saturday and I was successful via chat just now. ACtually got the same canned "I'll submit a request, so keep checking back" answer, but when I checked about 30 min later they were in my account! 4th time is the charm, lol?!?
