I’m UK based. I had 2 choices, either U.S. embassy or an ‘acceptance agent’. Agent was much easier and was able to do everything online. These are specific firms authorised by the IRS to deal with the ITIN forms. Hopefully you have an equivalent in Canada.
It’s a PITA, but once you have the ITIN you are set for when you come to sell I suppose!
Yes we do - and they are quite insistent I don’t need or qualify for an ITIN…
I’ve looped in the title company, fidelity and the FIRPTA agents in hope they can actually resolve the confusion. Since a US embassy is bordering on a non starter.
