We're driving to Chicago for the day on Sun 10/2 to go to the AG store. If we have time, we may go over to the zoo. Any tips on parking? My mom does have a wheelchair, and we have two little ones. (So, a taxi from watertower is not an option as I don't feel comfortable riding in a taxi w/ a toddler on my lap...I was scared to death the last time I rode in a taxi and that was w/o kids!! :rotfl:). Also, that will be too far of a walk. It will probably be after lunch.

Parking info is below, but you can also take the bus. Just go to http://www.rtachicago.com/ and plug in your start/end points and it will tell you what buses to take.

Location & Directions

Lincoln Park Zoo is located off Lake Shore Drive at the Fullerton Parkway exit, just minutes north of downtown Chicago. From I-94, exit at either Fullerton Parkway or North Avenue and go east.

Parking Lot Congestion
Field-trip season at Lincoln Park Zoo is typically May and early June.
We’d like to remind you to plan for the increased volume of visitors and buses using the parking lot. Please note:
*The lot is congested during bus drop-off time (9–10 a.m.) and pick-up time (noon–2 p.m.)

*The lot is most congested on Wednesdays, Thursdays and Fridays from May through early June.

*As always, we encourage visitors to use public transportation when visiting Lincoln Park Zoo.

I don't know why you are picking Lincoln Park. It is a free zoo, and they have gorillas. Personally I am a much bigger fan of Brookfield, but that is not the question you asked.

PP gave you information on the lot in front of the zoo, which will be the best place to park.

Keep in mind if the weather is poor, you can go to the Museum of Science and Industry. They have an underground parking garage, and the museum is entirely inside.

If you have a disable parking card there is some free on street parking on "N Stockton Dr" near the farm animal area. We went there in July and got lucky that there was a few spaces open there.

Oh I don't know...I like Brookfield since it is closer for me, but Lincoln Park is a good little zoo and worth the visit. Plus it sounds like they only have part of a day to tour, so it's closer to downtown and something small enough that they can see most of it in an afternoon, plus it's free other than parking.

I would love to go to Brookfield....but we don't have the time this time or the money. :)

My mom does have a disabled placard so we will check where PP stated for the handicap parking.
