Chevrolet Equinox - Luggage Room?

How much luggage room is in the back of the Chevrolet Equinox? National says 2 suitcases--anyone have a better guestimate? There are 5 of us so I reserved the full-size SUV, but it would save us almost $60 if we could get away with the Equinox.

My DD had an Equinox and there wasn't a whole lot of room in it IMHO. Once the carseat was in there was only room for one person in the backseat. And packing it just to go for a weekend trip was really tight even for the three of them. I think you made the right move reserving a larger vehicle.

We had one last april. We had 5, 2 adults and 3 children between 4 and 8. We had enough room. We had a "largish" umbrella stroller, 2 large suitcases and a couple of backpacks. We had enough room. I'd rent one again if I could get a price like last year. 115 for 7 days.

I drive an Equinox. It will easily hold 2 large suitcases, and likely 1 small, or several backpack duffle bags. The seat in the back is a bench type that slides forward for more (or less) leg room for the backseat passengers.

I fit 2 large suitcases, 2 small suitcases, and 2 backpacks into my truck for our drive to the airport last year. Not too mention many trips back and forth to camp this past summer with all the kids "gear" It's a fine truck, with plently of room for 3 (smaller) people in the backseat.

All depends on how much you pack. And is it all adults or a mix of adults and kids? It can be done, but you might have to get a little creative if you are over-packers. For $60 difference, I might go with the full size myself. I find that the estimates on luggage capacity from rental car companies are grossly underrated. They would rate the car I used to drive as compact, but we still managed to get three adults and all their belongings for a two week trip to the airport in it. I wouldn't drive around that way for hours, but it all fit.

We have an Equinox. If the 5 includes the little ones in your siggie you will be fine. There is enough room in the trunk for 2 large suitcases and a few smaller bags as well. The seats in the back are three shoulder harness style seats so if your smallest uses a booster, it would still fit the other two with no problem. We did it from Philly to Baltimore last year and there were no fights among the kids about space (DS uses a belt positioning booster seat).
So I would imagine for the small amount of time they are in the car, the kids would be just fine!!!
