Cheapest Sit Down Meals?!

I tend to prefer sit down meals rahter than counter meals. I have three little ones ( princess: 6, princess: 4, pirate: 3) and a sit down meal is much more of a break for *ME* than a counter service meal -- however, I end up spending quite a bit on food on our trips. This next trip (that my DH hasn't "formally agreed to" yet) I am going to try to keep food costs down, so I will try *some* counter service meals

But, I would also like to try to stick to the cheaper sit down meals. In the Magic Kingdom, I love The Plaza, and I know it's a fairly inexpensive place for lunch (compared to CRT) or dinner (compared to Tony's Town Sq). What are some of your favorite sit down meals that you don't think seem to be as expensive as some of the others? I'd love to hear you recommendations. I'm hoping to find a few new places to try - at the parks, Downtown Disney, resorets, wherever....Thanks!

If you are looking for some entertainment factor for your kids, you might want to consider whispering canyon at WL for lunch or the coral reef at epcot. Both are cheaper than at dinner.

You could try Trail's End at Fort Wilderness. It is just a boat ride away from MK

Wow--when you stop to think about it, it's pretty hard to come up with a reasonably priced Disney table service restaurant!

How about OHana's for dinner, which is a fixed price and more reasonable than some of the others?

You might look into the meal plan--for your family of five, it would cost you $100 per day, with many, many restaurant choices.

At MGM you might want to try the Sci-Fi Drive In Theater. It is pretty cheap (hamburgers, fries, etc.) and the atmosphere is something I LOVED when I went there as a kid. I still do love it and I am going to eat there again next month when I go to MGM :mickeybar

We thought Spoodles on the Boardwalk was reasonable, also Kona Cafe at the Poly.

I just went thru the menus and planned sample meals to figure out an estimate of what our meals will cost today. We're 2 adults/kids 14 & 7. Sci fi and LTT lunch were the cheapest sit downs on my dining itinerary.

Definitely Beaches and Cream at the Beach Club. It's sit down and very reasonable and the food is AWESOME! It's a little more dinery than most sit down places, but it's not counter service.

Biergarten in Germany at Epcot is a buffet, and it is one of the least expensive ones out there. Food is good, and there is an oomp-pah band that plays each hour.

Trail's End at Fort Wilderness is reasonable. I've never been, but have heard from others that it's good.

If you don't have a real big appetite, you could get away with ordering just an appetizer at lots of the table svc places- appetizers are pretty big, and might fill you up- and you will spend lots less than an entree. Or you could order an entree and split it with another person.

We prefer sit-down restaurants too. Now, we don't have any kids but I think I can still give you good advice.

Try these.

Concourse Steakhouse - at the CR. It's an open restaurant - you can eat and watch the monorail go through which is still amazing to me. I'm easy to impress. Anyway, the food is great, so is the service and the prices are quite moderate compared to other Disney restaurants. They have great prime rib, steaks, and sides. Oh, and in the summer they make this killer Summer peach salad. Breakfast is good too!

Kona Cafe - at the Poly. This is a popular breakfast place (can you say Tonga Toast?) but it is very good for dinner. Asian influenced, but not too much. Great food, service and again a moderate price.

Beaches & Cream - at the BC. Burgers, dogs, ice cream. But it's a sit-down place.

Have fun - eat some for me.

Thanks all. You have definitiely given me a few good places to think about! I would definitely do the meal plan, with the three kids it would be worht it, but three of us have annual passes from a previous 2 week trip in December so I don't think we can get the meal plan - unfortunately! $100 a day for a family of five would be awesome!! But, I think I will get the DDE 20% card, and just try some of these places - rather than Tony's for dinner, CRT for dinner, and a *bunch* of character meals, like we usually do! THose places add up fast. Thanks again - I am looking forward to trying new things. Beaches and Cream may top the list. I'v eheard great things about that place. And SRUalum, we love "dinery" (we're from Jersey) ;) Just as long as they carry the food to me and the kids, I'm happy! :)
