I currently have the standard mears connect booked for a May trip and have a 3.5 year old and baby. I am watching review videos and the vlogger said to bring car seats in case you end up with a van rather than the bus. Mears wouldn’t just leave us stuck since a shuttle is available but we have no car seats, right? Would they make an actual bus be available for a family without car seats?

If you're right is during the day, don't worry. If you have a super late night then I'd contact Mears to talk wit them. I don't trust any vloggers out there, they are all about click bait. Call direct, get the facts.

When I contacted mears, they said they did not guarantee vehicle type. If you're traveling at a peak time, odds are it will be a bus. If you're not, you might end up with a van. It's why I opted against booking with them.

Did they say they would do something to accommodate you if you were to get a van? We are traveling during the day but I’m still nervous.

This was their response last year.

"Great question! Mears Connect will not offer car seats in either the express or standard service. None of our vehicles are required to have car seats (commercial vehicles) but we understand guests’ child’s safety is most important. We will accept any car seat you bring with you to use. Note, guests may be transferred in a motor coach, shuttle van or small vehicle. This all depends on arrival time and volume. Therefore, if you travel in a van or small vehicle, you do not have to use a car seat."

When we were comparing the two, the fact that Sunshine Flyer always has busses tilted me in their direction. We ended up booking private transfers with Happy Limo.

Thanks for the info! It’s crazy to me that car seats aren’t required in the van. I guess it’s probably no safer than riding in a bus without car seats, it just feels different thinking about holding my baby on my lap in a van…
