Canceling reservation that used borrowed points...

If I use borrowed points... 2019 points borrowed into 2018 but cancel the reservation before my banking deadline of January 31... do I lose my borrowed points? Or do I have to use them by May 31 2019 since I borrowed them into 2018?

Or can I bank them back into 2019 to use by May 31 2020?

Use year is June.

thats what I thought... OK.. looks like I will have to wait till last minute to book then, can't take a chance!

OTUPs retain the UY for which they were purchased. They cannot be banked.

If you purchase OTU points in your 2018 UY, then they would need to be used by the end of the UY, no different than if you have to borrow points to book. So, if you are unsure about the trip and only options are borrow/OTU, then waiting until you have a better idea is a safer way to not be left with points that you can't use.
