MagicBands can't be re-assigned.I have several magic bands from previous trips including one from last year that was never used. My husband doesn't have any. Is it possible to reassign it to him for our upcoming trip? He already has a ticket, just no magic band. Thanks.
Are you sure that bands can't be reassigned - if it's for a different trip altogether? I'm 100% positive we borrowed Magic Bands for our first trip from relatives (2017). Maybe the systems have changed in the last 3+ years, but I know we were able to assign the bands the first time we did it. We just added them in the My Disney Experience and had no issues when we arrived.
Again, apologies if the systems have changed since then.
Could it be that they had purchased the bands, never used them and so they were never linked to an individual?
Thats the only way I can think of that working. We've had MBs since they were released and you've never been able to reassign one.
We're not saying you are wrong. I suspect one of the above scenarios occurred.Everyone responding is so sure that you can't reassign them that I must be mistaken on the details. Maybe it was that the relatives got extra bands that they hadn't used, or they called to reset them. The only thing I know definitively is that we used bands we got from my wife's sister and family and they worked perfectly well for us when we stayed offsite. So I apologize for any misinformation.
So if my mom has a magicband linked to her own mde account, but she is now listed as a guest on a reservation I made & that is linked to my mde account, she can't use that magic band?

Is she listed as Mom's Account version or a Managed Guest version of Mom? If she's listed as Mom's Account, you're fine. If she's listed as the Managed Guest version of Mom, you need to link the Managed Guest Version with the Mom's Account version.
She will be able to use that MagicBand if you merge her two profiles (the one she already has and the one you created for the reservation). Unless they are already the same.
Thanks! Now how do I do that? She had been listed as a managed guest on my account on prior trips, but her most recent trip was one she planned on her own, and had her own MDE account for. It's the magic band that she used on that trip that I think she'd like to use again. Do I just use the option to share the plans with her, and that will link it to her account?
I agree - call the MDE IT folks. If there’s only one of her in Disney’s system, she’s fine, but if MDE thinks the one in her account and the one in your account are two different people, there could be trouble! Thanks! As long as the MagicBands are still linked to MDE (only Disney IT can removed them) and flagged as "Active", they will work for any upcoming trip that you link to your MDE account.Ok, we have bands from a previous trip. Can we re-use the same bands, and just reload our new trip in October? or do we need to get new bands? Thanks in advance for your help.
So no they can’t be but yes they canNo, they cannot.
On rare occasions, guest services, in person, will override the system to do it, but that is typically for a reason like a mistake on Disney's part.
