Cake Bake Shop at the BoardWalk is now open

Here’s the contract that came with my afternoon tea reservation for a party of 2.

I'm confused. Is 2 people having afternoon tea considered a private event?

Why can't people just order tea, a variety of desserts and a few sandwiches to share instead? It seems like that would be a lot less hassle, money, and risk than signing a contract like this. I took my daughter to the Eloise tea at the Plaza hotel in NYC and didn't have to put down a deposit or sign any contracts. This is bonkers!

Stopped by the bakery last night - magic bar was omg perfection, red velvet cake was fab, but the bottom layer was drier than the rest. Overall, yum. Headed back tomorrow for millionaire’s cake. Head’s up, though - sone of the cakes, millionaire’s included, are going away Dec 4 to allow for a holiday menu that I was told includes chocolate espresso. Also confirmed, they will offer coconut cake (😍), timing TBD.

I just checked. The current price Eloise tea is.,$110 per child under 12. The cost for adult after noon tea without wine and without caviar,.is.$155.

Edited to add cancelations of afternoon tea reservations within 72 hours are subject to a $75 cancelation fee.

Your description of tea at the Plaza is incomplete and is misleading

The presentation for Afternoon Tea is different, but I assume you already knew the answer since you've been to Eloise tea. Agreed the contract is unusual. Maybe they'll drop it in the near future.

Calling it a contract may be unusual. Having large cancellation penalties is not unusual

It is not called sprinkles
It is Pixie Fetti and Cake Bake has copyrighted it and sells in gift shop

Sucker born every minute, right? More like every 38 seconds among Disney fans.

I suppose "private event" is more of a mis-labeling than a literal proposition. They're treating it like a dinner show, which it isn't either.

Call it what you will, it's an experience that requires a credit card to book. Is that better?

I’m cancelling my tea “event” as the administrative offices of the eatery are still getting their act together and it’s fine if they do it w/o me.

Thought I’d just switch to a regular ADR but they are not accepting reservations for more than a month in advance. Perhaps after Thanksgiving things will have calmed down and order reign.
A tad perturbed as the mother of the 6 y/o guest already informed her daughter of the NY Day afternoon tea but we all have our style of parenting. Sigh.

Over or under....you wind up booking the tea after you arrive at WDW
