This place seems like a hot mess. Clearly the hired management is either not given enough support staff to work out these problems or CBS hired poorly.
I'm confused. Is 2 people having afternoon tea considered a private event?
Why can't people just order tea, a variety of desserts and a few sandwiches to share instead? It seems like that would be a lot less hassle, money, and risk than signing a contract like this. I took my daughter to the Eloise tea at the Plaza hotel in NYC and didn't have to put down a deposit or sign any contracts. This is bonkers!
Stopped by the bakery last night - magic bar was omg perfection, red velvet cake was fab, but the bottom layer was drier than the rest. Overall, yum. Headed back tomorrow for millionaire’s cake. Head’s up, though - sone of the cakes, millionaire’s included, are going away Dec 4 to allow for a holiday menu that I was told includes chocolate espresso. Also confirmed, they will offer coconut cake (), timing TBD.

The presentation for Afternoon Tea is different, but I assume you already knew the answer since you've been to Eloise tea. Agreed the contract is unusual. Maybe they'll drop it in the near future.

I’m cancelling my tea “event” as the administrative offices of the eatery are still getting their act together and it’s fine if they do it w/o me.
Thought I’d just switch to a regular ADR but they are not accepting reservations for more than a month in advance. Perhaps after Thanksgiving things will have calmed down and order reign.
A tad perturbed as the mother of the 6 y/o guest already informed her daughter of the NY Day afternoon tea but we all have our style of parenting. Sigh.
