BWI unbelievably noisy standard view room

Checking out today but just wanted to add to the discussion one more time for those looking at using white noise players to mitigate hotel noises. It looks like using your phone is the best option for strictly white noise but the Hey Disney gizmo has a ā€œSoundscapesā€ feature that plays white noise with a music overlay. There are several options, all Disney themed of course
Just make sure your white noise machine isn't up too loud, or you yourself can become the annoying noisy neighbour.
At Aulani we couldn't sleep because the people in the 1BR next do our Studio put their baby in the room turned on the noise machine so loud and then closed their door so THEY could sleep, except all we could hear all night long was their noise machine playing baby lullabies and it was NOT relaxing.
We asked front desk to get them to stop but they did nothing. It was still a good trip, but we didn't sleep at all until the last night and that was only because they left!

We're here now and it feels like the people in the connecting room are on our vacation. We can hear every word, including from out in the hallway. We love the Boardwalk but will never stay here again because of it.

I have a standard studio on the DVC side booked. Is there anyway to request a non connecting room? Or are they all connecting?

Request a dedicated studio. There are only 15 dedicated standard view studios, while 37 studios are connected to the living room of 1BR villas to make 2BR lock off villas, so like all requests itā€™s not guaranteed. If itā€™s extremely important, Iā€™d make it the only request.

If you had booked a Pool/Garden view studio, your chances might have been better - there are 74 dedicated P/G view studios.

Hmmmm, sadly no I only have a Deluxe Studio - Standard View booked in the DVC side.
I've sent who I'm renting from a message to see if they can make the request for me and I'll hope for the best.

I think we all have different experiences. We've stayed there twice a year since the renovation and I thought it was a quiet resort. šŸ¤·šŸ¼ā€ā™€ļø

People hate on the aesthetic of Riviera, but itā€™s like sleeping in an isolation pod. Iā€™ve never heard a neighbor once. BW villa side wasnā€™t too bad, not as bad as VGF BPK, but maybe the inn side is different.

I was just about to say this. I've done this for connecting doors but never had to do it for our front door. I would do it in a heartbeat if I needed to.
We stayed at the Grand Floridian and found that putting rolled up towels at the base of both the front door and connecting door made a big difference in the noise. It was pretty bad there too before the towel trick was implemented.

Oh boy, lullabies are definitely not white noise.

Never stayed in a standard view room which seems to face the front of the hotel but I could imagine it being noisy during check in and check out times.
Also never stayed in a room fronting the Boardwalk since Iā€™d think that would be noisy in the evenings.
Wonder if I donā€™t ā€œhearā€ the hall and most nearby room noises since I live in an urban setting?

Personally I think a lot of noise and tolerance level depends on where you are from to start... Live in an active area with cars, planes and people out you will be fine most of the time. A house set away from all well it can seem loud.
I have stayed at all the deluxe and truthfully a lot depended on neighbors on the sides and more so above... a shower at midnight is heard a bathroom break at 2am depends on how asleep you are. BW the rooms we had I mostly did not hear hallway noise but also off the main walking paths however we did have a neighbor with a connecting door (not that it would have mattered) that had deeper voices so talking was heard but they also had their daughter bring a I believe a Trumpet with daily practice. I did waive when they checked out so we had a few days of peace. Flush away compared to that....
Yes you will hear carpet cleaners occasionally, running, loud talkers (sometimes low ones), doors closing sometimes slamming, Heavy walkers, feet draggers, and water sounds from bathrooms at all.

I've had this experience in the big pine key building at GF. That is why I would never stay there again. Conversation next door as if they were in the room, normal talk.. and those damn pressure bathroom toilets that you hear all night when someone flushes next to you or upstairs

A very long time ago, the hallways at BWI were covered with a very thick carpeting, as were the rooms. As a result, there was never a gap under the door and the sound was well absorbed. The soundproofing is another casualty of the renovations which stripped down the rooms to the bare minimum.

I actually think the new room design is a GIGANTIC improvement over what they used to look like.

AKL has "wood" floors and we didn't notice anything. But like others said, we live in a big city neighborhood in a louder building, so we may just not notice it.
